Fans of “The Legend of Korra,” the spin-off to the hit animated show, “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” will be delighted as Variety has released the name of the fourth and final season of the show as well as its premiere date. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
Earlier this year, fans of “The Legend of Korra” were anxious as rumors were going around that the animated show would be cancelled by Nickelodeon. However, their fears were dispelled as Movie News Guide (MNG) reported on July 26, 2014, that the last five remaining episodes of the show’s third season and the entire fourth season, or Book 4, would be aired online on Nickelodeon’s website and the Nick app. The article also mentioned that the fourth book would be the final chapter of “Korra,” as the show’s creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, had planned to make the fourth season the last season of the show. This is one season more than the the number of seasons that “Avatar: The Last Airbender” had, as it concluded in its third season.
“The Legend of Korra” is a sequel of sorts to the original series. It follows the new Avatar, a water tribe girl named Korra, as she strives to protect Republic City while enjoying adventures and training along the way. The series is set 70 years after the ending of the original series, in which Korra interacts with the descendants of the original characters, such as her airbending master, Tenzin, who is the son of Avatar Aang and water bender Katara.
Variety also noted that a premiere date has already been set for Book 4, which will be entitled “Balance.” It will premiere on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014. The episodes will air every Friday and will be available online on the Nickelodeon website and the Nick app. This news comes just weeks after the final episode of Season 3, or Book 3, concluded last Aug. 22, 2014.
And that’s the latest update on Nickelodeon’s “The Legend of Korra.” For more news and updates on “The Legend of Korra” and other television shows, keep following Movie News Guide (MNG).
