“Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” is an animated musical featuring familiar characters from “The Wizard of Oz.” The plot of the movie is about Dorothy Gale and how she decided to return to Kansas from Oz. She found it devastated by the tornado. The same tornado which has had sent her away to Oz. “Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” Movie Review:
Dorothy sees her home smashed and the natives are packing up and moving out. Before she could react to the devastation of her hometown, she is mysteriously transported back to Oz. She finds out that Oz is in trouble and the people there need her help.
Dorothy’s old friends; Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man have disappeared. Oz is almost in a state of break down. As she journeys to find her friends, she encounters a number of new people and lots of trouble. On Dorothy’s new expedition through Oz, she meets new friends like a china doll princess, a marshmallow man whose name is Marshal Mallow, a big owl named Wiser, and a tree-turned-tugboat named Tugg.
With the help of her new friends, they band together against a wicked villain named Jester who wants to have power over Oz by turning important citizens into marionettes. How will Dorothy and her new friends defeat tricky obstacles along the yellow brick road and work together in time to reinstate Oz?
The film is based on the book entitled “Dorothy of Oz” authored by Roger Stanton Baum, great grandson of L. Frank Baum, who wrote the original “Wonderful Wizard of Oz book.”
State-of-the-art computer graphics and the most up-to-date 3D techniques for animation add great value to the movie. Certainly this installment of the Oz legacy will be a visual treat for the fans all over the globe. The music includes songs by Bryan Adams. The soundtrack album will be released by Sony Entertainment’s Columbia/Epic label.
According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), “Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” is produced by Summertime Entertainment, directed by Daniel St. Pierre and Will Finn. Although it’s animated PG rated for some frightening imagery.
