Legends of Tomorrow has been renewed for a third season. A new season will introduce new characters. The latest update is that a new cast member has already been added.

The new cast member will be playing an important character in the DC universe. She also happens to be closely associated with the Shazam-verse.

Tala Ashe as Adrianna Tomaz

Comicbook.com reported that American Odyssey star Tala Ashe has been cast in Legends of Tomorrow season 3 as Zari Adrianna Tomaz. Many DC fans will immediately recognize Tomaz as the DC superhero Isis who has had a major role to play in the Shazam-verse.

The superhero is also said to be the wife of Black Adam and one of the only people who was responsible for drastically changing Adam’s perspective. Since the name Isis is a controversial one, the show will simply refer to her as Tomaz.

The outlet also noted that this is not the first time the superhero has appeared on TV. The Secret of Isis was one of the first television series that starred the superhero.

Joanna Cameron starred in the show as Andrea Thomas, a science teacher who could call upon the power of the Egyptian Goddess Isis using an ancient amulet.

Origin of the character

There have been many origin stories for the character in the comic books. However, the most recent one is her re-appearance in the 52 comic series.

In it, Tomaz was actually a refugee who was brought to Black Adam by the Intergang. Impressed by her confidence, Adam killed the bad guys who brought her to him. Later on, he collaborated with her and indulged in discussions.

She offered suggestions about how he could become a kind spirit instead of being a dictator. Her influence changed Adam’s nature and he started falling for her. He even retrieved the amulet of Isis and asked Shazam to grant its powers to her.

After Shazam did so, she changed into the superhero Isis. She started doing good deeds with Black Adam all across the Middle East. Eventually, Adam proposed to her. Post marriage, she let everyone know that they want to do good deeds.

She started traveling around the world to do so. But her happiness with Adam was short-lived. She died trying to save him from one of the four Horsemen of Apocalypse controlled by the Intergang.

Before dying, she made Adam make a promise that he would avenge her and her brother Osiris’ death. Post her death, he set out on a path of vengeance.

Network’s statement about Tomaz

CBR.com reported that the network is choosing to take a different approach to the character. In a statement released by the network, Tomaz will be a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who lives in a world of contradictions.

The statement also stated that she plays a computer nerd with an aggressive attitude. In addition to this, she also remains unaware of the fact that she has powers that derive from a very ancient source.

How will she factor in?

The real question now is how will Tomaz factor in the new season? The synopsis of the new season states that because of the Legends’ frequent time travel, they have fractured the timeline and created anachronisms.

Anachronism is described as the scattering of objects, people, and animals all across time. Maybe this is how the futuristic computer nerd will come in contact with the ancient amulet that will turn her into the superhero everyone loves.

If her powers go the wrong way, it would be on the Legends to repair the timeline and to save the world from her.

Legends of Tomorrow is a team that was formed after time traveller Rip Hunter recruited superheroes like The Atom, White Canary, Firestorm, Hawkman, and others to take down Vandal Savage. Since the beginning of the series, they have been on multiple time travelling adventures and even collaborated with heroes like Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl to save the world.

Premiere date

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 is expected to return this fall.
