7-year-old Isaiah Tootoosis a native Saskatchewan will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in his upcoming Americana wasteland movie “The Revenant.” Read on for more details,
In a report from Eagle Feather News, Tootoosis who didn’t have a clue at first who will he be sharing his acting debut with, was screaming with joy when he was chosen. His mother, Rachel Berland, was personally called by a casting crew which eventually gave the youngster a crack for an audition in Calgary.
Berland, who along with her son screamed and jumped around with the latter’s sudden luck. She even made a “Leonardo DiCaprio” movie screening of their own bring their son into light who he had shared screen time with.
‘Hey! I know that guy, he’s my movie dad. Boy, he’s such a good actor,’” Tootoosis exclaimed when he saw DiCaprio on the television.
Berland also revealed that after the auditions her son was beaming with enthusiasm for the future and immediately made it clear that he wants to do more movies and probably be seen more in the Hollywood spotlight.
It came as no surprise as Tootoosis is the great-grandson of the late First Nations actor Gordon Tootosis. Gordon was known in his portrayal of noteworthy characters in movies both in Canada and America.

Her mother added that with the positive feedback that they got from the studio stating he was a natural actor, Tootoosis would like to continue with his journey.
“So hopefully something comes up for him good in the filming industry,” his mother gives praise to his son’s wish.
In a related article from What Culture, it is expected that the 40-year-old actor will finally claim his much coveted Oscar in this film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu of the “Birdman” fame. DiCaprio in spite of a stunning acting career and frequent nominations has never won a Best Actor award in the Academy.
“The Revenant” will have a Christmas Day release in 2015.
