“New Girl” stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. will be hitting the big screens with their upcoming comedy film, “Let’s Be Cops.” It opens on Aug. 13, 2014. Read on for more details about the upcoming movie.
Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans, stars of FOX’s “New Girl,” will be starring in the Luke Greenfield-directed comedy buddy cop film, “Let’s Be Cops.” Wayans and Johnson will play two buddies who, dressed as LA’s finest police officers for a costume party, become neighborhood sensations. But in a twist of events, the duo gets tangled in a real-life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, where they must put their fake badges on the line.
Johnson and Wayans are widely known for their roles in the FOX’s hit sitcom series, “New Girl,” as Nick Miller, a grumpy law school drop-out who supports himself by working as a bartender. Coach, played by Wayans, is a cocky and driven yet sometimes awkward personal trainer. Wayans first appeared on the series pilot but was later replaced by Lamorne Morris’ character Winston due to scheduling conflicts with his other sitcom, ABC’s “Happy Endings,” having renewed for a new season that time. He reprised his role in Season 3’s “Coach” and was credited as special guest star for all his appearances in the said season. Wayans was officially re-added as a series regular for the upcoming Season 4. He will also voice the character Wasabi in Disney and Marvel’s animation pic, “Big Hero 6.”
Asides from his role as Nick Miller, for which he has received a Teen Choice Awards nomination, Johnson’s other notable works include “Paper Heart” (2009) and “Safety Not Guaranteed” (2012). He also made an appearance in the films “Get Him to the Greek” and “21 Jump Street.” His first starring role in a feature film was “Drinking Buddies,” opposite Olivia Wilde.
“Let’s Be Cops” is directed and written by Luke Greenfield, known for directing the 2004 film “The Girl Next Door.” The upcoming comedy pic is co-written by Nicholas Thomas. The film stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., along with Andy García, Nina Dobrev, Rob Riggle, Keegan-Michael Key and James D’Arcy.
