Last month, multiple reports have surfaced online saying the tour buses of Lil Wayne and his team were shot after a show in Atlanta. The Grammy-awardee’s buses were fired at but no one was reported to have been injured.

After a month following the incident , new reports have come out saying an Atlanta man was arrested following aggravated assault charges and gang activity.

According to a report from Reuters, the suspect identified as Jimmy Carlton Winfrey was responsible in shooting the two tour buses of Lil Wayne. This was according to an official police statement issued on Friday.

The 25-year-old suspect was also identified to be a member of the Blood gang. The move behind the shootout was for Winfrey to gain respect in the streets, said local media news reports. On April 26, Winfrey shot the tour buses of Lil Wayne with about 12 people on board including his music executives. The incident took place in Atlanta few minutes after the rapper finished his show in local nightclub.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cited the issued warrant saying that the motive of the suspect was to shoot the rival rap artist to gain status in the gang. This was after he has associated himself with the members of a gang located in the Atlanta area.

A report from Reuters citing a police statement said Winfrey fired at the tour buses of Lil Wayne from a moving vehicle.

After his arrest, the authorities at Cobb County Police charged the suspect with felony counts of aggravated assault, gang activity and criminal damage on the two tour buses of Lil Wayne. Furthermore, he was also charged with terroristic acts, illegal possession of firearms.

Representative for Cobb police, Officer Alicia Chilton said the arrest warrant was confidential and sealed. Meanwhile, the charges against Winfrey regarding the shootout incident on the tour buses of Lil Wayne were released on Thursday. However, it has not been made clear on whether or not Winfrey was already taken into police custody.

Reps for Lil Wayne were not immediately available to comment regarding the report.
