According to CNN, the American rapper Lil Wayne made the big announcement on Saturday, June 13, that he was signing a deal and collaborating up with Jay Z.
“I just signed a deal with my motherf–king idol, Jay Z,” said Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter while he was at the stage at KMEL Summer Jam in Oakland, reported the source.
The source reported that Lil Wayne and Bryan “Birdman” Williams of Cash Money Records are now in a court battle, over Wayne’s contract and the delayed release of “The Carter V.”
The fans and crowd were excited and started sparking rumors through the internet, stating whether Wayne was signing with Jay Z’s Roc Nation label regardless of the long running complain with his current label, Cash Money Records?
However, Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant has clarified the comment that Dwayne Carter made during the live performance on the stage about signing a “deal” with Jay Z. He told Billboard that people came to the wrong conclusion when Wayne made the comment. He also added that Wayne has joined Tidal, Jay Z’s music subscription service, as a co-owner this month, and gives an exclusive new track “Glory.”
Lil was “referring to the partnership with TIDAL as an artist and owner. So there’s no Roc Nation deal,” said Bryant.
TMZ also reports that Wayne’s deal with Jay Z has “nothing to do with Roc Nation.”
Therefore, Lil Wayne’s next album will be released on Jay Z’s TIDAL, and his collaboration with Jay Z is definitely a big deal for various reasons. However, the deal is a big step when considering the battle between Birdman and Wayne.
