After a series of teaser trailers centered only with The Capitol, Lionsgate finally releases the first official teaser trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.”
Nonattendees of the San Diego Comic–Con 2014 can now revel in the first all-out official teaser trailer of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” that was released by Lionsgate earlier this week, preceding its early viewing in the said event.
The trailer, this time around, is about Katniss accepting the responsibility to become the main symbol and leader of the rebellion against The Capitol and President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Looking at the first teaser trailer, we are able to witness the remnants of what we thought was the abandoned District 13. Previous damages of the late wars were very much evident with all the dilapidated buildings. The first voice we were able to hear was the husky but determined voice of Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman). He’s engaged in a deep discussion with District 13 leader Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) as he convinces her with Katniss’ (Jennifer Lawrence) capability to be the leader and the symbol of the rebellion. However, the District 13 leader appears to be unconvinced as she seems to have understood that Katniss is incapable of doing so because of how scarred she is and fears that she might not be able to undertake the pressure of leadership. After she lets go of those lines, we then finally get a first glimpse of Katniss for the latest film. We see her in a confused demeanor, walking in what seemed like an underground camp filled with District 13 residents. Katniss appears to be dazed with what she is seeing — most probably from what she has gone through prior to arriving to the camp). Then again, before the trailer hits its end, the young leader rises to the challenge and accepts the responsibility that was bestowed upon her.
The trailer also features shots of very familiar faces such as Natalie Dormer, who will be playing as Cressida, and Liam Hemsworth, who we all know as Katniss’ childhood friend, Gale Hawthorne.
According to the speculation of Screen Rant, it would seem that the first part of the last book, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” will be centered in the buildup of the all-out climax that is set to be unleashed in the last installment of the movie franchise — somewhat like the not-so calm version before the storm. It’s pretty obvious that unity is the main theme that drives this movie to play, and we are definitely anticipating the rest of it once it hit the theaters on Nov. 21, 2014.
