Often, fans hear about actors and actresses who become lifelong friends after working on a movie together. However, according to Charlie Hunnam, his co-star Robert Pattinson barely said a word while filming their 2017 adventure movie The Lost City of Z.
Keeping It Professional
Considering the amount of time actors and actresses spend for filming and then promotion, it is not surprising when the cast talk about their close bond. In last month’s Life, for example, Jake Gylenhaal and Ryan Reynolds have confessed their bromance that formed while filming the sci-fi/thriller. Daniel Craig fell in love with Rachel Weiss while working together in the movie Dream House.
Even Pattinson experienced blossoming romance on-set of Twilight. He dated his former co-star Kristen Stewart while filming the teen saga that spanned five movies.
However, it seems like Pattinson has kept his relationship with his cast mates in The Lost City of Z professional. The 30-year-old barely uttered a few words aside from what was written on the script.
“Through the work, I don’t think I said more than 10 words to Robert [Pattinson] off camera,” he told Screen Daily (via Telegraph UK). “I didn’t know if he was just ‘in that zone’ or if he genuinely didn’t like me.”
The Sons of Anarchy star explained that the distance between him and Pattinson has to do with work. The latter played the role of Corporal Henry Costin, aid to Hunnam’s Colonel Percy Fawcett. He wanted the relationships to grow organically on-screen. He admitted that the distance between him and his co-star translated really well on screen.
Now that production has wrapped up, Hunnam is open to the possibility of being friends with Pattinson. The 36-year-old star of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword revealed that his co-star has reached out to him.
Too Close For Comfort
The Lost City of Z filmed the majority of its scenes in the remote jungles of Colombia. At CinemaCon held in Las Vegas last week, Hunnam recounted his own horror stories while on the set of the upcoming movie. The cast and crew encountered a torrential rain that caused the river to rise and a lightning strike nearby that sent everyone scampering out of the woods.
However, that was not the actor’s worst experience. Even in the comforts of his hotel room, a beetle burrowed deep into his ear.
The English star told fans that he woke up hearing a drilling sound in his ear. He tried to coax the creature out by pouring water in his ear, but it was still there when he woke up.
They had to call an ambulance to probe his ear, but he was eventually brought to the hospital. He found out that the creature has burrowed deep into his ear, rupturing his ear drum.
