Is One Direction (1D) Louis Tomlinson estranged father, Troy Austin, suicide attempt has something to do with their father-and-son messy relationship? Read on for more details.
Every 1D fans know that the 23-year-old Tomlinson doesn’t exactly have a relationship with Austin ever since his father split with his mom when he was just 5 years old, since then, the singer and dad-to-be has taken his stepfather’s [Mark Tomlinson] surname.
It’s been years since the singer has seen or heard his dad before the latter came out to the public. He declared that he wished Tomlinson would let him be part of his grandchild’s life as he really wanted to ‘heal the rift’ and make up for lost time, according to Mail Online.
However, it seems like Tomlinson and Austin are still NOT in a good place, causing some people to speculate that the latest suicide attempt of Austin has something to with his messy relationship with his son.
The 46-year-old estranged father, Austin, who was reported missing by his family admitted that he drank alcohol to ‘build-up some guts’ in killing himself.
He was then charged after refusing to take a breathalyzer test on Aug. 19, 2015 when cops found him in Cantley Park in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
In addition to this, reports indicate that cops found alcohol cans in the boot and confirmed that he also tried to gas himself while intoxicated. The latter was then taken to the nearest police station. He is said to continue his self-harm attempts by hitting his head on the furnishings. He was then taken to the hospital to heal his injuries.
Moreover, on Sept. 10, 2015, Austin was called to a court hearing. His lawyer, Ross Wagstaff, stated that whether his refusal to take a breathalyzer was deliberate, it could be argued because of his mental state and that he had just inhaled a carbon monoxide before the officers arrived at the park.
“Mr. Austin had given up at this point. He was not obstructing,” Wagstaff added.
Due to Austin’s lawyer statement regarding the latter’s mental state at the time he was found, the judge dismissed the case. However, his license was given ten points and he had to pay an amount worth of £250.
Meanwhile, the reason of the suicide attempt was explained by Wagstaff too. He clarified that the reason behind it was all because of Austin’s relationship with his elder brother named Dean.
“Mr. Austin and his brother are the joint proprietors of a local hotel left to them by a family member. He was taking regular income from that business, but that relationship broke down and led him to take the action he has.” –Mail Online.
Furthermore, Terry Boswell, Austin’s brother also cleared the issue by confirming that Wagstaff was saying the truth. His brother’s suicide attempt has nothing to with his relationship with Tomlinson.
Hollywood Life reported that Boswell said Austin knows he made mistakes and that the latter found it difficult to be Tomlinson’s father, but he loves his son.
“Troy loves his son, maybe hopefully one day Louis will come and see his dad,” Boswell added.
