In this episode, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni)  prepared for the arrival of Iranian President Shiraz (Houshang Touzie) for the signing of the Nuclear Peace Treaty with Iran that they had all been working hard for. However, things became a little bit more complicated as a Human Rights Protest was to be held that very same day as Iran was going to execute a homosexual man in Iran, and as a new plot to assassinate Shiraz was uncovered along with the information that Juliet Humphrey (Nilaja Sun) was in the area. Also, Elizabeth began to see the therapist that the President’s Chief of Staff recommended. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Juliet Humphrey (Nilaja Sun) watching her kids and her husband from a web camera.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni)  went to her appointment with therapist Dr. Kinsey Sherman (Marsha Mason). She told that she honestly could not believe that she had missed out on all the signs that pointed to Juliet’s eventual betrayal. Looking out for those kinds of things is what her old job had been all about. After telling Dr. Sherman that she felt horrible about the fact that a dear friend had died as a result, and because of that, she began to cry.

Afterwards, Elizabeth got ready to assist Henry McCord (Tim Daly) in teaching Alison McCord (Kathrine Herzer) how to drive. However, she had to leave them as she was needed in the Situation Room. They had managed to get a location on Juliet based on a ping that they had been able to trace to a province in Algeria as she had been hacking into her husband’s web camera. Elizabeth, after being told that they would be sending in an armed drone, as Juliet was on the Kill List. She offered to talk to the Algerian Ambassador, Ambassador Firas Kateb (Joseph Kamal), to make it happen.

Meanwhile, after a basketball game, Aiden Humphrey (Hill Harper) talked to Henry. He invited them over the next day for his daughter’s sixth birthday.

At the State Department, Elizabeth was told that a homosexual man in Iran named Izad Ahmadi was going to be stoned to death the same day as the Treaty signing. She then told Nadine Tolliver (Bebe Neuwrith) to try and postpone it. She told Jay Arcelus to sit down with the Human Rights Committee to try to stop the protest that they were planning to hold at the White House at the same time of the signing.

After talking to the Algerian Ambassador, the President’s Chief of Staff, Russell Jackson (Zeljko Ivanek) was enraged as Elizabeth hadn’t tried hard enough to push for what they wanted. They told her that they would only allow a joint ground operation to capture Juliet.

The next day, Nadine was unable to postpone the stoning. Jay began to question his own decisions and beliefs after talking to the Human Rights Committee head, Brent Rosen (BD Wong), who refused to take the protest elsewhere.

Jay then came up with a plan for a prisoner exchange, as the Iranians had a spy in Jordan that they wanted back. Afterwards, Elizabeth was told that the strike had been cancelled as Juliet had left Algeria a week ago. After seeing a picture of her in a golden scarf, she realised that Juliet was in the area because of a comment that Lily Humphrey (Anais and Mirabelle Lee) had made during her birthday party. Meanwhile, Juliet met up with Lieutenant Brian Curtwell (Tommy Schrider ) as he had one more job to do.

She then met up with FBI Director Neil Hendricks (Wayne Duvall). He told her that her lead on Juliet calling someone up on a payphone had paid off. He also told her that they were currently negotiating with a felon in prison who was at the opposite end of the burner phone that she had called.

Afterwards, Jay told Elizabeth that Iran had refused their deal. He began to question if what they were doing, signing an agreement with Iran, was right. Afterwards, she learned from Hendricks that Juliet had contacted Curtwell. She was on duty with the counter sniper unit, which meant that he was going to assassinate Shiraz. They were able to stop him from doing so, which led Juliet to give herself up as she went to her husband’s house.

Meanwhile, the signing went without a hitch, Ahmadi was stoned to death. Jay joined the protest outside the White House.

Afterwards, Elizabeth told her therapist that she was going to interrogate Juliet. She told her that she was afraid that whatever Juliet will say will only convince her that the doubts that Jay had planted in her head was real and that the entire treaty was a mistake.
