Will Madonna and Sean Penn be back together in each other’s arms? It seems the cards are all falling into place as Madonna’s son decided to play matchmaker recently.
Madonna’s son, Rocco Ritchie made the first pitch thru a call on Sean Penn that the once estranged couple should get back together, as quoted by the National Enquirer, according to Rumor Fix. Ritchie is Madonna’s 14-year-old son to English film maker Guy Ritche. The pop singer was married to Ritchie from the year 2000 to 2008. Penn lately had his romance with actress Charlize Theron fizzled out.
“Sean’s always loved Madonna. He thinks she’s the only woman strong enough to handle him. They’re planning a vacation together with Rocco before her tour begins in September,” a source from the online magazine added.
Madonna and Penn both starred in 1985’s Shanghai Surprise. The British adventure comedy movie was an onscreen vehicle for the newlyweds. Their whirlwind relationship turned into a steady argument filled with violence. This all culminated with the two-time Academy award-winning actor charged with “inflicting ‘corporal injury and traumatic conditions and battery” on the singer. This followed with Madonna filing for divorce in 1989.
After that debacle, Penn continued to have a long checkered history of volatility in his behavior. The actor infamously abandoned co-star Woody Harrelson in the Australian outback during the filming of “The Thin Red Lin”e in 1989 as a return prank, as quoted by Uproxx, via IMDB. Penn also married actress Robin Wright, but the marriage again ended in divorce, which was finalized in 2009.
Despite his share of bad publicity, the actor has, through the years, been active with political and social causes. His recent engagement with Theron may have ended but according to a previous article about the couple via The New York Post, the actress may have given the 54-year-old actor a new leaf in his life. Penn’s accumulated collection of guns was turned into a sculpture and was then auctioned for a relief operation as requested then by Theron.
