The upcoming season of “Downton Abbey” is the show’s last and Maggie Smith who plays the Dowager Countess is just thrilled that it’s over. Read on.

According to Carter Matt, the Dowager Countess is known for her bluntness and the actress herself is one as well.

“They say this is the last one, and I can’t see how it could go on… I mean, I certainly can’t keep going… to my knowledge, [the Dowager Countess] must be 110 by now.” Smith said in a recent interview.

Smith also added that the show has kept herself from the real world due to its popularity and she can’t wait to start living again. She is just so happy to say goodbye to the show but made it clear that she was so happy all throughout the run of the series.

“It’s not riotously funny to be in corsets and wig. We have had a great time making the show – the cast are enchanting and all the young [actors] are really lovely, so it was all very enjoyable on that level… we’re really an ensemble, and that’s a wonderful things to be part of. To tell you the truth, the corsets are agony. God knows how they lived in the days when they had to wear them all the time,” Smith said.

Well, so long corsets! Hang in there, just a little more and the series will be over, Dowager. For the meantime, I know “Downton Abbey” will give us the best series yet and the best series finale ever and I can’t wait!
