Guillermo Del Toro wants ‘Arya Stark’ in “Pacific Rim 2.” Del Toro had lunch with “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams and was apparently so impressed that he wants to hand her the keys to a ‘Jaeger.’ Read on for more details.
Williams may be only eighteen, but she has a tendency to turn up in beloved franchises. She had her breakout role in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and is also appearing this season in BBC’s “Doctor Who.” Now Guillermo Del Toro wants her to be in “Pacific Rim 2,” according to this tweet.
Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday. Remarkable. Dammit- if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger.

Of course, Del Toro’s tweet is rather ominous in one detail. “IF PR2 happens” is leading fans to speculate on how committed Universal is to create PR2.
Universal recently took “Pacific Rim 2” off its official list of calendar of releases, where it formerly occupied the Aug. 4, 2017 date. (That date has gone to “Pitch Perfect 3”, by the way, leading to piteous cries of outrage from people who just wanted to watch giant robots fight giant monsters).
However, Universal and Legendary have said that they are committed to making the project “the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves.” It is good because the world truly needs more “Pacific Rim 2,” and the adorably deadly Maisie Williams taking down humongous monsters (via Hollywood Reporter).
Williams is filming the next season of “Game of Thrones” in the meantime, and assuring people that Jon Snow is really truly dead, and no he will not be returning as a white walker. She is also set to appear as a troubled teen sailing across the Atlantic in a home-made raft in next year’s “Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” alongside Jason Sudeikis.
