The mysterious post-credits scene at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 clearly reveals the director Marc Webb’s vision of the Spidey film universe. He clearly intends to introduce a team-up of villains, the infamous a variation of the Sinister Six from Marvel Comics, as it plays into the film’s tagline, “his greatest battle begins.” The first official The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer comes out not only exposing Jamie Foxx’s Electro, but also teases some other comic books characters.
At this point, it would just be a guessing to say how significant the supporting roles will be, but one thing to be confirmed is that Oscar winner Jamie Foxx’s role is that of the main villain, and then there are “many adversaries that Spider-Man will have to face,” as Marc Webb said in the trailer breakdown, below …
Webb talks on the controversial re-imagining of Rhino and explains why the character isn’t fit for the physical world, although it may work in comic or animated art. However, he says that the large beast is only teased in the movie, and it’s something we’ll see n the sequel, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3.’
Webb continued on the topic of villains, revealing shot of a dark figure walking by suits designed for Doc Ock and Vulture. He further mentions OsCorp to be an “evil empire,” that is a source for all the new super-powered enemies Spider-Man must fight. As to why they’re all after Spidey, it’s still a yet-to-be-explained backstory that has some connection to Peter Parker’s parents and their disappearance.
