Peter Parker’s Aunt May is getting younger and younger as rumors of Marisa Tomei being casted for the film’s reboot spins around the internet.
The Oscar Winner actress, Marisa Tomei has been offered the role to play Spidey’s Aunt May in the Spider-Man movie and is now rumored to be in their final negotiations and according to Hollywood Reporter, Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” it could be her possible first appearance as Peter’s Aunt.
As long as we remember, Peter Parker’s aunt is usually in their older years; Sally Field who played the role was 65 years old in 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” and Rosemary Harris was 75 years old in 2002’s “Spider-Man”, but now, since Peter’s character is in his high school years maybe casting a much younger Aunt May would fit the character.
Though Tomei looks like she’s in her 30’s, and looks young, sexy and too beautiful to be an aunt…the truth is that she’s already in her 50’s, old enough to be someone’s aunt!
If ever Sally Field will play the role and be part of the reboot film, Tomei will act alongside with the British actor, Tom Holland, 19, who will play as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Parker is all set for his first cameo appearance in the film “Captain America.”
As reported by Metro, Marvel Comic’s president Kevin Feige has previously said that the new “Spider-Man” movie will be a John Hughes movie. He also added that some of his favorite part in the Spider-Man arcs and Spider-Man stories is in his high school for a lot of it so he want to explore that part.
On the other hand, these news about Tomei’s new role and first ever action blockbuster character in her 30-plus-year acting career made the netizens especially the Twitter users shocked; many are doubtful, angry, and satisfied by the new flow of the character.
Meanwhile, the reboot is set to be released on July 28, 2017.
