The wait is finally over. Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer of “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” It is the most-awaited fourth installment of Michael Bay’s sci-fi action film series “Transformers.” Mark Wahlberg stars in “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” He has taken over Shia LaBeouf, who was the lead star of the previous “Transformers” movies.
During the production of “Transformers: Darkside of the Moon” in 2011, Indiewire reported that Bay and LaBeouf will not come back in the said film franchise.
It was later denied by Bay (at least, for his part). Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the former “Transformers” cast members. Shia has been in the news lately due to his behavior as reported in E! Online, but it seems that he is quite “happy” with his current status and his #IAMSORRY Exhibition at an art gallery in Los Angeles, California. In an article by Us Magazine, it was stated that Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are also not coming back.
In his personal website, Michael Bay shared the good news that Mark Wahlberg stars in “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” He is going to play the lead character Cade Yeager in the latest franchise. Bay and Wahlberg reunites for the second time after doing the acclaimed crime-comedy film Pain & Gain in 2013.
Despite being a first-timer in an established franchise, Wahlberg has taken interest in playing superhero roles. Yahoo! Movies UK reported that Mark jokingly told them that he wants to play “Iron Man” in the future, if ever Robert Downey Jr. is going to retire.
The latest “Transformers: Age of Extinction” trailer serves as the sequel to the “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” which was shown in 2011. It follows the timeline and shows what happens years after the devastating attack in Chicago. A billboard with “Remember Chicago” and a hotline number can be seen during the beginning of the trailer.
Wahlberg portrays the role of a mechanic/inventor and a single dad named Cade Yeager who lives with his teenage daughter named Tessa (played by Nicola Peltz) It has been a struggle for both of them as Cade tries to provide Tessa her own college fund. While looking for metal or “junk” as she liked to call them, he accidentally found pieces of Optimus Prime among the pile that he gathered during his drive.
Everything goes on a downward spiral when the Yeagers start to get hunted by Harold Attinger (played by Kelsey Grammer), who stated in the “Transformers: Age of Extinction” trailer (in a spine-tingling voice) that “A new era has begun. The day of the Transformers is over.”
The 42-year-old Wahlberg and 19-year-old Peltz joins Jack Reynor as Shane Dyson, Stanley Tucci as Joshua and the rest of the “Transformers: Age of Extinction” cast.
Despite the major overhaul in casting, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and their league of badass Autobots will come back to save the world. Hypable gives us a look at their smashing makeovers.
A “Transformers” film will never be complete without their enemies called the Decepticons led by Galvatron. Several Dinobots that are based on real-life dinosaurs are the latest additions to the “Transformers” bunch. These include Grimlock, who transforms into a a mechanical Tyrannosaurus Rex with horns and Slug, who transforms into a mechanical Triceratops.
The “Transformers” franchise, which gave life to our childhood robotic toys created by Hasbro and Takara-Tomy, has been successful in the box-office garnering almost 3 billion dollars in revenue worldwide. The-Numbers.com named the “Transformers” franchise as the 12th greatest film series or franchise with an all-time top box-office revenue.
