Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook chairman and CEO, has made it to the top cover of Vanity Fair’s yearly ‘New Establishment’ List, which positions the mightiest people in business and media. Read on to know more details.
The magazine’s cover for October issue features the 31-year-old computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg in his everyday grey t-shirt and jeans, reported MailOnline, while the shot was captured by photographer Annie Leibovitz.
According to Vanity Fair, The ‘Establishment List’ is divided into two halves: “Disrupters,” which ranks 50 innovators who are shaping the way we play, learn, communicate and collaborate and the other half, “Powers That Be,” which comprises 25 visionaries in business and entertainment who have utilized their supremacy to impact cultural change.
Graydon Carter points out in this editorial note for Vanity Fair that Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest person to ever top the ‘Establishment list,’ while Facebook has now reached almost 1.5 billion total users worldwide, which no other company has ever achieved.
Apart from Zuckerberg who made to the top, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook and Jony Ive also made to the top 5, while Taylor Swift made her first appearance on the list.
Zuckerberg, who was positioned fifth, last year, took vital steps in exhibiting Facebook’s prospective outside the social networking site this year. He took the initiative to launch ‘Instant Article’ for publishing optimized content from news organizations like The New York Times and others, while he also traversed the virtual reality unification in user’s newsfeed.
Meanwhile, the cover line from the October issue reads – “He changed the world once. He says he’ll do it again with Oculus Rift.” Mark Zuckerberg declared on his March 2014 Facebook post that he had obtained Oculus VR – the maker of virtual reality. With the invention of Oculus, Zuckerberg is looking forward to connecting every part of the earth.
