Marry Me” Season 1 Episode 6 “Bruges Me” aired on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. Jake attempted to get close to Annie’s gay dads, while Annie attempted to help Jake’s best friend Gil during the Flemish Pride Parade. Read on for the recap below.

The gang was watching old VHS tapes at the apartment of Annie (Casey Wilson) and Jake (Ken Marino). These were home movies of a young Annie in her musical plays and they were watching this to show to their wedding officiant, who made a mistake of telling the couple that she wanted to get to know them well. To be clear, these were musicals staged in the backyard with Annie as the lone star. She had such a stage fright growing up, so her gay dads helped her cope by having her own shows at home.

Meanwhile, Gil (John Gemberling) was making waffles while the gang watched the tapes. He does this every year to prepare for the Flemish Pride Parade, so he’s going to do it again this time around. He’s quite proud of his waffles, whose recipe came from his grandma. He’s also quite proud of his Flemish heritage, so he makes it a point to join the pride parade yearly.

Later, Annie and Jake went to see Dawn, the wedding officiant, in her office to give Annie’s videos, which she really had no interest watching. While they were there, she also pointed out some of the answers from the questionnaires the couple filled out. She noticed that Jake knew so little about the Kevins, Annie’s fathers. But he thought that they have the best relationship on social media. Except, he could not tell who was Kevin 1 (Tim Meadows) and Kevin 2 (Dan Bucatinsky). So for the sake of their marriage, Jake agreed to get to know the Kevins better.

It was quite awkward with the Kevins at brunch the next day. When Kevin 2 excused himself to go to the bathroom, it got even weird with Jake and Kevin 1 just sitting there. Until Kevin 1 saw a motorcycle from outside and Jake remarked about it. They both learned they share a love for this.  So then, Jake suggested Kevin 1 should get back on a bike, despite him saying that his chopper days are over. When Kevin 2 overheard this, he got mad. The couple argued in front of Jake, whom Kevin 2 blamed for bringing up the stupid idea to his husband.

Meanwhile, Gil went looking for Jake at his apartment to consult with a problem. But as Jake was at brunch, Gil only got to talk to Annie. Apparently, there was another person doing waffles in this year’s pride parade and she got first dibs. So, Gil needed a new idea for the booth. Annie suggested he should come up with a song about the parade and she would help him do this. The two agreed because they felt that they have this thing together. They had “it” and “it” was strong while they were doing a duet from “Cats” a while back.

When Jake returned from brunch, he said that the meeting with the Kevins went fine, while Annie said that she was doing something with Gil.

Annie: You are getting to know the two most important men in my life, while I'm getting to know the most important man in your life.

As they were discussing their day, Jake received a call from Kevin 2 who still was pissed about him suggesting to Kevin 1 about the motorcycle. He calmed him down by telling him he will be convincing the other Kevin out of it.

Jake was at the door of the Kevins’ house when he spotted Kevin 1 with his very own Vespa, which doesn’t exactly count as an actual motorcycle, but Jake knew well not to tell Kevin 1 about it anymore. He saw that the guy was so happy with his purchase, but then Kevin 2 walked by and grew even more furious. He accused his husband of being selfish and then his real issues about the motorcycle surfaced.

Kevin 2: I cannot believe you're willing to commit to a death machine but you're not willing to commit to me!

Back at the apartment, Annie and Gil were also not getting along as the “musical duo” could not come up with a song they could agree together. Did they just lost “it”? Later, Annie swung by Gil’s place to apologize with a bowl of guacamole, and as they were sorting things out, an inspiration struck and suddenly, they felt “it” again. They were going to do the Flemish version of “New Attitude” by Patti LaBelle and change its lyrics with everything Flemish-related. They were gonna call this song “Bruges Attitude.”

Jake was discussing the Kevin situation with Dennah and Kay who made him see that the fight wasn’t about motorcycles, but of Kevin 1’s fear of marriage. Suddenly, Jake knew just how he will be able to patch this up. This “fear of getting married” was his wheelhouse, as he has felt this before.  So he looked for Kevin 1 and had a heart-to-heart talk with him.

Kevin 1: Why should we change something that has worked perfectly for the past 35 years?
Jake: Look if they do change, it's only gonna get better.

Meanwhile, Annie and Gil, along with Dennah and Kay, were at the Flemish Pride Parade. But realizing they were going to perform, Annie suddenly got the stage fright and hid inside one of those porta-potties. Kevin 2 was trying to talk Annie into coming out when Kevin 1 and Jake arrived. Despite the smell from the potty and the weird vibe of the pride parade, Kevin 1 proposed to Kevin 2 right there. Group hug!

Annie: Did you somehow have something to do with this?
Jake: Well, when you know two people as well as I do, you can create this magic moments.

Later, as Annie was able to overcome her stage fright, she and Gil performed “Bruges Attitude,” and their friends and her fathers watched.
