“Marry Me” Season 1 Episode 5 “Thank Me” will air on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. Tension between Annie and Jake’s Mom escalates as preparations for Thanksgiving dinner are underway. Find out what happened in the details below. But first, let’s do a quick recap of the other week’s events.
In “Annicurser-Me” (air date: Nov. 4, 2014), Annie (Casey Wilson) and Jake (Ken Marino) were supposed to celebrate the sixth anniversary of their first date, but this was sidetracked by a storm that was entering the city. Their friend Kay (Tymberlee Hill) noted that their first date anniversaries were always cursed, and so this was no surprise. However, Annie believed that these were just a series of unfortunate events.
With the storm coming in, they moved to the storage room in the basement. While there, Gil (John Gemberling) took charge of the “emergency situation” which seemed to have awoken something in Dennah (Sarah Wright). She liked seeing this take-charge side of Gil, even as she was also trapped in the basement with her British date.
Gil instructed the gang to sort items they could use in the storage, just in case they would have to stay in there much longer. It’s the “survivalista” in him. When Annie and Kay discovered this drawer from Jake’s old desk, and Jake was acting so odd about it, they’ve got to wonder: What was he hiding?
Turned out, he had a prenup agreement in there, which Annie thought was meant for her. How can she trust Jake now? But as Jake explained for whom this prenup was for, they were also able to flush out the real reasons why each of the first date anniversaries had its share of mishaps in the last five years. This only proved that the universe did not conspire to bring her relationship with Jake down, and this pleased Annie so.
Meanwhile, Dennah realized that her thing with Gil was only a momentary lapse and would never be spoken about ever again.
Spoiler Alert: “Marry Me” Season 1 Episode 5 “Thank Me” will air on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
It’s Thanksgiving, and Annie wants to host Thanksgiving dinner for the first time since becoming engaged to Jake. However, there’s a minor hitch. Jake’s mother, Myrna (JoBeth Williams), traditionally does these dinners. How will the couple tell her that she can take a break from hosting this year? Will she be okay with letting Annie take charge? Myrna, the control freak, will appear supportive, but then, Annie will soon realize that there’s actually a competition between her and Myrna in Jake’s life. How will Jake settle this?
Meanwhile, Gil has Thanksgiving concerns of his own. He will discover that he has a knack for picking the best cheese, and so, he would like to bring fine cheese to dinner. In his search, he will also find himself in an underground world of sumptuous and unique cheese offerings.
The episode will also feature Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky as Annie’s gay dads.
