Marry Me” Season 1 Episode 14 “Dead Me” aired on Tuesday, Feb 17, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. Jake’s identity has been stolen and wiped out. Everyone thought he died. Find out what happened in the recap below.

Annie (Casey Wilson) has missed date night three days in a row with Jake (Ken Marino). But while he understands her drive to succeed, he tells her that she has to take the time to chill. He’d like to hang out with her some more. So when Annie’s office calls, he asks her to disregard this. But then, her boss Janet (guest star Michaela Watkins) drops in at their apartment with an emergency and takes Annie with her, leaving a naked Jake in an empty apartment.

The gang is at the bar to meet Brianna, Kay’s other girlfriend, whom she’s actually going to break up with. Then Jake learns his identity has been stolen so his credit card isn’t working. Brianna offers to fix it for him; she’s a programmer. Can Kay (Tymberlee Hill) break up with her later so she can help Jake? It should be noted that Brianna is a little bit crazy jealous of every other girl looking at Kay.

The next day, Kay drops in Jake’s apartment to check if Brianna has already fixed his identify theft problem. Apparently, the girl bumped into Kay with her other girlfriend Haley, and she was definitely pissed. So what’s going to happen to Jake’s online identity now? In her rage, Brianna actually took everything out on Jake. She just killed his identity that his company has sent out the memo — Jake is dead. Meanwhile, Gil (John Gemberling), who applied for a job at Jake’s company, receives an email that there’s a job opening. He’s been offered Jake’s post!

Jake settles this with his company, but he’s asked to prove, via paperwork, that he’s actually alive. His being present to talk to them is not enough. There’s nothing the guy at HR can do for him, but hold a company memorial. Fixing this could take a while, so Jake has a lot of free time to spend. As this is going on, Gil is given the tour at Jake’s company as its new employee.

Meanwhile, Annie receives flowers in her office, and it’s only then that she learns her fiancé is “dead.” She’s too busy to know what’s going on, but after a quick call from him, she’s all better now. Except, she’s still neck-deep in work. Janet learns that she just lost Jake, so she lets Annie go home. Annie didn’t bother to explain this though because she realizes that she can finally have a break from work.

At their apartment, Annie pleads to Jake to stay dead so that they can do date night. They check in to a hotel, which happens to be owned by one of Janet’s client. Guess who walks in the lobby? Janet! She sees Annie too and wonders what she’s doing at the hotel. She’s supposed to be grieving at home.

Just then, Jake comes out of the spa all naked and hanging. Annie introduces him to Janet as Jake’s brother, Jazz. She has not met Jake in person before, but Janet is very confused by the encounter. Back home, Annie starts freaking out about the whole thing. What if Janet learns that she’s still planning a wedding? Jake suggests that Jazz can step up and marry his brother’s widow.

Gil drops in on their apartment to ask Jake some advise about work, specifically the preparation for his memorial. What song would he like playing at the ceremony? They talk some more about work and as it turns out, Gil is really getting along with everyone. Jake realizes he hardly knows his co-workers.

Janet drops in at home to tell Annie that she likes Jazz so much, she will be at Jake’s memorial service.

At the service, Jake comes in wearing a disguise, and Dennah (Sarah Wright) and Kay are present too. Gil starts the service with a PowerPoint presentation.

Meanwhile, Janet prods Annie to get up and say a few words. But when she made her speech, Annie declares she’s quitting Janet’s company because life is short. It’s around this time that Jake stands up to reveal himself to everyone, realizing that life is just too short to miss out on making friends with his co-workers.

Back at their apartment, Annie and Jake are role-playing about him being Jazz to cap off their night. He gains his identity back, and Annie decides she’s going to start her own company.
