Fans of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe are getting treat after treat as the year ends as teases for the upcoming 2016 films and the films of Phase Three have just been teased. Thanks to this, many are beginning to get even more excited about the plans for Phase Three.
Just right after first images of MARVEL’s “Doctor Strange” was released, Empire magazine released a special preview for their February 2016 issue, which contains an exclusive preview into the upcoming third phase of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Feige dwelt more on the upcoming “Black Panther” film, and how it will impact the Phase Three movies going forward.
According to him, the “Black Panther” film, which he describes as “geopolitical” in scale, is an important film that will directly lead up to the events of “Avengers: Infinity War-Part I.”
However, this also makes fans wonder if this means that the last Infinity Gem, the Soul Gem, will be featured in “Black Panther,” as it is being highly speculated that the Eye of Agamotto in “Doctor Strange” contains the Time Gem.
Feige went on to mention that the film is geopolitical in nature as it deals with the royal family of Wakanda, and the struggles of being a king, as T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), is the ruler of this technologically advanced African nation.
However, fans will be able to get a glimpse of the Wakandan ruler in “Captain America: Civil War,” as he will get drawn into the events that will be taking place in the film.
Aside from this, according to Comic Book Movie, Feige’s interview with Empire also touched upon the rest of the upcoming films such as the “Spider-Man” reboot, “Thor: Ragnarok,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.”
With regards to the sequel of the surprise hit, Feige teased that the film will mirror the fact that the “Guardians” team in the comics has had different incarnations and additional team members by adding on to the team’s roster.
Currently, in the comics, Peter Quill or Star-Lord is not on the roster. The current team consists of Star-Lady, or Kitty Pryde, Drax, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, The Thing, and Venom.
“Thor: Ragnarok,” Feige said, is the “Captain America: Winter Soldier” of the “Thor” films, as the tone and theme of the film will be a very big departure from what has been seen in the first two films. Also, expect things in the film to be a little bit more cosmic in scale than before.
Finally, Feige talked about the “Spider-Man” reboot, and told Empire that as they have a younger Peter Parker, they will be grabbing that chance to tell a more character driven story about the young superhero in his high school days.
