MARVEL’s Agents of SHIELD” Season 2 Episode 18 “The Frenemy of my Enemy” aired on Tuesday, Apr. 21, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. In this episode, in order to locate Agent Skye (Chloe Bennet), S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) struck a deal with Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) in order to infiltrate HYDRA as they were also looking for powered people like her. Back at the base, Agent  Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) realized whose side she was really on after Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) did something surprising. Meanwhile, Calvin “Cal” Zabo (Kyle MacLachlan) and Skye went on a father-daughter date that quickly went south. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began in San Francisco. Agent Leo Fitz (Iain de Castecker) evaded the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents tailing him. He also met up with S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) and Agent Mike Peterson (J. August Richards).

On board the quinjet, much to Fitz’s shock, Coulson informed him that they were going to strike a deal with their worst enemy, Grant Ward (Brett Dalton). They need it in order to infiltrate HYDRA who would be able to lead them to Agent Skye (Chloe Bennet), as they were looking for powered people like her.

Meanwhile, it was shown that Dr. List (Henry Goodman) had captured and killed a potential Inhuman named Ethan (Kris Lemche), while experimenting on him. He was looking for a particular quantum signature which wasn’t on him.

At Afterlife, Skye told Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) that her dinner with her family had been nice, and decided to talk to her mother as she thought that her idea to send Cal away was a bad idea as she knew that Cal would end up getting angry and would hurt innocent people in the process.

Back at the base, Agent Bobbi Morse (Adrienne Palicki) told Agent Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) that she believed that Coulson wasn’t the enemy.

Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) then admitted to Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) that she has switched the real Toolbox for a fake one and that the real one was with Fitz. However, May told Bobbi that switching the Toolboxes was Fitz’s idea. After Simmons agreed to try to find them by tapping into Mike’s feed, Simmons realized that May was siding with them. She realized that Coulson had just been trying to protect Skye.

At Tijuana, Mexico, Kara (Maya Stojan), was taken hostage by Mike and Coulson, much to the surprise of Ward, who had been out buying a plant for their new house.

After relieving himself of all of his weapons, he decided to accept Coulson’s deal. Ward and Kara would help them infiltrate HYDRA in exchange for a fresh start for Ward as Coulson would wipe all of his memories, including the bad ones, via the TAHITI  Protocol.

Back at Afterlife, Gordon (Jamie Harris) told Jiaying (Dichen Lachman) that Raina (Ruth Negga) may be the first of her kind. Afterwards, as Jiaying refused to take back her decision to let Cal go, she ended up allowing Skye to go along with Cal and Gordon to Milwaukee to “soften the blow.” Cal only knew that he was going home to get a few things.

Meanwhile, things on the quinjet were tense, as Ward, Kara, and a brainwashed Sunil Bakshi (Simon Kassianides) went with them. After Ward greeted Fitz, Fitz tried to lunge at him, but was stopped by Hunter and Coulson. He told him that Bakshi wasn’t going to betray them as they were going to monitor the meet up with List via Mike’s eyepiece.  However, during the meeting, Bakshi offered Mike up to List. It caused those in the plane to draw their guns on each other, but after explaining that they would only get to Strucker through Deathlok, they ordered Mike to stand down. Afterwards, they tailed List’s plane as it left the area.

Meanwhile, in Milwaukee, while Cal bought ice cream for them, Skye called May. She told them to take Cal in and told them not to hurt him so that he wouldn’t hurt any innocent people. She kept the line open so that Bobbi and Mack could get to wherever she was.

Cal then showed her his office. She realized that her whole name was Daisy Johnson. However, after explaining things, and after he realized that he was being dumped by his wife, Lincoln appeared, and Cal fought him off. However, this attracted the attention of Mike and Bakshi, who instructed his HYDRA team to look for them. Lincoln and Cal then fought HYDRA off, while Skye ran.

Meanwhile, Coulson and his team arrived and tried to fight off HYDRA as well. It resulted in Hunter getting shot. However, just as Skye went towards Coulson, Gordon took her and Cal, who tagged along, away.

Mike then fought Lincoln, but both were knocked down and captured by Bakshi and his team.

Meanwhile, Simmons managed to tap into Mike’s feed before he went down and saw that Ward was with Coulson.

Bobbi and Mack then arrived an hour later, only to discover Coulson, who told them to take him to their leader.
