Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 Episode 4 “I Will Face My Enemy” aired on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on ABC. Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. were after a painting with a code at the back. Read on to learn more about this episode.

“I Will Face My Enemy” opened with a church after a fire, and a painting was found unscathed. What made this painting somehow fascinating was the code found at its back.

May (Ming-Na Wen) and Coulson (Clark Gregg) went into a fundraising event for the church as a couple, while Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Trip (B.J. Britt) waited in the Bus. Their goal was to steal the painting. The scene then changed into May and Coulson dancing while checking the security parameters. They were reminiscing about their S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy days. But there was no fooling May. She noticed Coulson’s hand shaking before they went undercover. Coulson told her that he was planning something if in case he ends up like Garrett (Bill Paxton).

Then Coulson spotted Talbot (Adrian Pasdar). He walked up to him and told him not to blow his cover. Talbot told Coulson that he would not unless he feels the need to do so.

Coulson and May acted up fast to get the painting. May distracted the host and called Coulson to take their picture — instant retinal scanner. When they got into the basement, Coulson was preparing for the laser grids, while May just walked through and said that they already knew they were there. Unfortunately, it was revealed that the painting was already in Talbot’s hands.

It was already dark when Coulson and May went out of the venue, and Talbot was waiting for them. He wanted Coulson to decode the symbols/writing. Coulson agreed to meet Talbot in an hour in his hotel room, and he sent May. Outside the room, May saw Agent 33 looking over her files and Coulson’s and Hydra’s logo. She crashed and engaged in a fight. When Talbot appeared, a punch revealed that he was in fact Bakshi (Simon Kassianides) in dsguise. For this part, May lost it to Agent 33, who disguised as her to lure Coulson. (Remember Scarlett Johansson in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”?)

When she arrived at the Bus, she talked to Coulson and planted a virus as they were about to leave. On their way to the hotel, Coulson talked to May about replacing him as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. just in case things do not go well. Then May (33) touched Coulson’s hand. In fairness, Coulson handled it well and waited until they were just in front of Talbot’s room. May (33) failed in Coulson’s “coffee” test. Coulson punched her, and we learned that May does not drink coffee. Meanwhile, May managed to escape from Bakshi, and he escaped with the painting. Outside the room, May and May (33) came face to face, while Coulson chased after Bakshi.

In the end, May proved to be better than Agent 33, while Coulson shot Bakshi. As for the team in the Bus, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) helped them fix the bug and prevent the Bus from exploding.

Whitehall (Reed Diamond) wanted Raina (Ruth Negga) to return the obelisk in 48 hours or else…
