“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 1 Episode 19 “The Only Light in the Darkness” will air on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. on ABC. Will Coulson succeed in saving his one true love from Hydra? Read on to find out more about MNG’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Spoilers of Season 1 Episode 19 “The Only Light in the Darkness,” including a brief recap of the last episode “Providence.”
Previously on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (“Providence” Season 1 Episode 18 air date: April 15, 2014), Hydra has a new member through Raina (Ruth Negga). Ward (Brett Dalton) visited her cell and gave her a floral dress but she was disappointed to find out that Garrett (Bill Paxton) does not have powers or any supernatural strength. On a brighter side, she was happy to meet the Clairvoyant.
Now that S.H.I.E.L.D. bases were down to three, Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) only hope in this time of despair was the thought that his team was still together. They managed to recover Cube from Hydra. Meanwhile, Col. Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) of the U.S. Air Force meddled by trying to send peace-keeping minions to control the situation. However, Coulson did not buy it, thus he opted for Odyssey protocol, which meant leaving.
Coulson then instructed Skye to delete all files referring to their existence, but Skye (Chloe Bennet) called Ward and informed him about their moves. She clearly did not know that Ward was loyal to Hydra. He then turned over what information he got to Raina and went to the Fridge with Garrett.
Coulson suspected that Fury was still alive. This suspicion has been triggered by the coordinates in his badge that lit up. The coordinates pointed to an area in Canada. The team wasted no time and went there.
Coulson, in his frustration, threw his badge in the air. This action prompted an automated gun to start firing. Then, without saying “open sesame,” the cave door opened. Agent Eric Koenig (Patton Oswalt) welcomed Coulson and his team and informed them that they were in a secret camp known as Providence.
Koenig revealed that Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) did not make it to Washington, DC, which caused Skye to panic and call Ward. But then Koenig told Coulson that it was otherwise—yes, Fury was alive and kicking!—and none could know about it.
Garrett, having been told that Fury was confirmed dead, was relieved. As for Ward, the hard drive that Skye forwarded to him needed Skye to operate. Without wasting a moment, he went to the Providence. And yes, the team was not at all suspicious of him.
As for the cherry on top of this episode, Garrett gave Ian Quinn (David Conrad) a present . . . the gravitonium that he had found beneath the Fridge.
