It has been less than a week or two since MARVEL’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” premiered, but already, according to the official MARVEL website and Deadline, MARVEL has already come out with several major announcements regarding “Captain America: Civil War”, which will be released in cinemas on May 6, 2016. Read on to learn more about the additional new cast members and announcements for “Captain America: Civil War”.
According to the official MARVEL website, the film will pick off right from where things were left in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), better known as Captain America, leading a new team of Avengers, as shown in the last scene of the film.
However, because of several international incidents involving the super team caused a considerable amount of collateral damage, the government comes up with a system to regulate and monitor super powered beings, in order to keep them in check, and to hold them accountable for whatever damage they had caused. This, in the comic book event entitled “Civil War”, was known as the Superhuman Registration Act.
This causes the Avengers to be divided, while trying to cooperate and band together in order to fight off a new villain.
According to the official website, principal photography for the film has already been started at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, which will serve as the base for the film’s production. The movie will also be shot in different locations around the world such as Germany, Puerto Rico, and Iceland.
Also, it was also announced on the official website that actor Martin Freeman, best known for his roles as Bilbo Baggins in the “Hobbit” trilogy; as Dr. John Watson in “Sherlock; and as Lester Nygaard in the television show “Fargo”, will be joining the movie, but his role hasn’t been revealed yet.
According to Deadline, Emily Van Camp, the star of the recently cancelled television show “Revenge” will be reprising her role of Agent 13, or Sharon Carter, Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) niece, who was last seen in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Sharon Carter or Agent 13, who was last seen in “The Winter Soldier” as Steve Rogers’ neighbor, is best known to comic book fans as his primary love interest.
Aside from these roles, it has been confirmed that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, or Ant-Man, will be joining the roster as well.
Adding to this, according to MARVEL, Paul Bettany , who portrays Vision; Don Cheadle who portrays Jim Rhodes or War Machine; and William Hurt, who portrays The Incredible Hulk”’s General “Thunderbolt” Ross, will be joining the roster.
The rest of the official roster includes Chris Evans, who portrays Steve Rogers or Captain America; Robert Downey Jr., who portrays Tony Stark or Iron Man; Elizabeth Olsen, who portrays Wanda Maximoff or Scarlett Witch; Anthony Mackie, who portrays Sam Wilson or Falcon; Scarlett Johansson, who portrays Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow ; Sebastian Stan, who portrays Bucky Barnes or the Winter Soldier; Jeremy Renner, who portrays Clint Barton or Hawkeye; Chadwick Boseman, who portrays T’Challa or Black Panther; Frank Grillo, who portrays Brock Rumlow or Crossbones; and Daniel Bruhl, who will portray the villain named Baron Zemo.
