Now that Spider-Man has been brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for a re-introduction in “Captain America: Civil War,” the studio also revealed that they have contingency plans to bring back other superhero brands back under their umbrella that have been floating around with other studios. The franchises currently being talked about are “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four.” Read on.
According to Movie Web, with “Fantastic Four” turning out to be a pure debacle at the box office, everyone’s been talking about the franchise returning back to Marvel. These rumors don’t really seem baseless as Marvel is said to have a plan for all the Marvel titles that are currently not under their jurisdiction. The studio has had a plan in the making all this time with the hopes that someday all of the exiled titles that it once held will come back to them.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at a press conference mentioned that they never thought their efforts at bringing Spider-Man back to the MCU would ever work out but when it eventually did, it was only a pleasant moment for them. Now apparently taking instances from the Spider-Man case, the studio is hoping bring out other titles that are currently with other studios and make them a part of the MCU. All of this is because they believe eventually when every movie is complete; all of them will feel like they were interconnected.
The other titles floating around are an obvious mention to “Wolverine,” “Deadpool,” “Fantastic Four” and “X-Men.” But because of respective movies of these franchises are already planned and have a release date with them, it doesn’t seem Marvel will be getting them back that soon. Despite all of this Marvel Studios currently has “Spider-Man” on their priority list, which they have been able to bring to MCU and have plans to establish the character’s storyline and somehow make it work in accordance with the Marvel universe.
Slash Film added that before “Captain America: Civil War” was officially announced, Marvel had plans to bring Spider-Man in the MCU. This information was leaked in the major Sony hack that shook entire Hollywood.
So going with their current hopes, maybe in near future we could see Wolverine, the rest of the “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four” merging with the “Avengers” in MCU and lending a hand in “Avengers: Infinity War- Part II” against Thanos or in any other movie Marvel might plan.
