According to the Hollywood Reporter (THR), Marvel will push through its newest comic book series “Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier.” “Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier” series will feature the Winter Soldier into the vast outer space described as “James Bond” meets “all the other great film franchises,” which will be collaborated by writer Ales Kot and artist Marco Rudy.
“Ales teaches a master class on 21st-century spy stories in Zero month after month, and he’s come up with a whole new spin on the genre for this new Winter Soldier series. And Marco reinvents sequential art every time he draws a page, as anyone who read the recent New Avengers Annual knows” said editor Will Moss to AV Club for Marvel’s picks, as published on THR.
James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby as a sidekick character in “Captain America” comics. Decades later, the original Bucky was brought back from supposed death as the Winter Soldier and even as Captain America when Steve Rogers was presumed to be dead. Sebastian Stan portrays Bucky in the feature film “Captain America: The First Avenger” and the Winter Soldier in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Sebastian Stan revealed in an interview with Newsarama that he signed a nine-picture deal for Marvel Studios, hinting that there might be future appearances for upcoming Marvel films.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” a sequel to the superhero film “Captain America: The First Avenger” featuring the Marvel Comics character Captain America, was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition, it was the ninth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from the screenplay of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It starred Chris Evans as Captain America, leading an ensemble cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson.
It gained critical acclaim with 89 percent approval rating with an average rating of 7.5/10 based on 222 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” topped the box office on its opening weekend with $75.0 million from 32 overseas markets, debuting number one in many territories, including Australia, China and Russia. It earned $259.8 million in North America and an estimated $454.3 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $714.1 million.
