“Friends” star Matt LeBlanc crushes fans’ dreams everywhere when he confirmed that a reunion movie is not happening anytime soon. The “Episodes” star spoke fondly of his character Joey Tribbiani and how he was often mistaken as the character’s dad by the younger generation.
While doing a promo for his new series “Episodes,” Matt LeBlanc revealed that despite several rumors, a “Friends” reunion movie is not in the works. The actor had nothing but praises for the sitcom and even compared it to Shakespeare!
“The themes we dealt with were sort of eternal like friendship and love and marriage and trust and betrayal – things that date back as far as, I don’t know, Shakespeare. As far back as storytelling goes.”
NBC’s “Friends” aired from 1994 to 2004, and even though it’s over 10 years since the series finale, people can’t still get enough of Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Ross Geller, Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani. That’s why it came as no surprise that every time two or more cast get together, the probability of a reunion movie always comes up.
Matt, however, was quick to slam the rumors and say that even if they were all very flattered, he thinks that a reunion is not going to happen.”
Meanwhile, Matt shared that he’s always being mistaken as Joey’s dad. Since re-runs of “Friends” are always shown everywhere there’s bound to be teenagers who’s always discovering the show for the first time. He shared that teenagers would often do a double take when they see him since he looks “too old” to be the star of “Friends.”
“They say, ‘What’s with the grey hair? Are you Joey’s dad?’”
