Finally, “The Maya Rudolph Show” is here and it aired on May 19, 2014. Who doesn’t love Maya Rudolph? She’s hilarious, talented and she can do a lot of spot-on impersonations. The show is a throwback to the variety shows of the ‘60s and ‘70s. According to Vulture, the show got pretty solid ratings of 7.2 million  and with solid ratings, the show could return for a longer run. However, there’s still the chance that “The Maya Rudolph Show” is just a one-off kind of thing. Let’s hope not because the show went really well and we have “The Maya Rudolph Show” recap for you.

“The Maya Rudolph Show” Recap:

“The Maya Rudolph Show” kicked off with a gig about Blake Shelton who was booked to babysit Maya’s kids and then our beloved host went into a song and dance number. She also talked about her children and about that memorable “Bridesmaids” experience when she “pooped in the street.” Watch her opening number below:

Musical guests were there as well such as Janelle Monae and Raphael Saadiq. Other cast members were there such as Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Kristen Bell, Sean Hayes and Craig Robinson who made a quick appearance as a nut salesman.

There was also a “Frozen” scene where Maya starred as the princess that all the guys fall in love with. Armisen was the snowman, while Bell voiced Anna in “Frozen.” Then, there was the “SNL” type sketch where Armisen and Rudolph played a couple who are both rich and famous and Bell played their daughter. Samberg portrayed Bell’s boyfriend.

There were a lot more scenes that were delivered nicely but fast, such as when Maya and Fred were rich douches and Sean as their very understanding valet. Also, the $25,000 Pyramid with Samberg who paired up with a Russian socialite named Svetlana who can’t speak English well. And there was also Maya who beat Andy in a “Saturday Night Fever” dance-off with her dance moves.

It was surprisingly a family-friendly entertainment show. Everything was good, clean fun. Maya really just had a blast out there and there’s no wonder why the pilot of the show went well and got such amazing ratings.
