As we all know that the second installment of the “Maze Runner” franchise “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” is all set to hit theaters on Sept. 18, 2015, speculations related to the third and last part of the series “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” also started coming into scene. Read on.
It is already been confirmed that the story of the second part will begin right from the end of the first one where the survivors of the Maze boarded the helicopter and headed towards a safe heavily guarded place. But when asked about the third part, the director Wes Ball revealed that the same thing will not happen with the third part, they have some other plans for it.
During the press day of “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” the director said, “This next one will be cool because we’re gonna cut maybe a year later. Yeah, so it’ll be cool. Some things have happened off screen, which is gonna make the movie feel even bigger,” as reported by Collider.
The director also revealed that he and his team have already started working on the third one.
“We’re working on the third one right now, working to make it even better and even cooler, and doing the same thing we did on this last one where it’s a different movie. It’s gonna be a different kind of an engine, a different kind of genre almost and a different sort of color palette and terrain. It’s gonna be cool. It’s gonna be very, very cool I think,” Ball said.
The 20th Century Fox’s “Maze Runner” was completed with $34 million budget and went on to earn $344.3 million. The studio, after receiving the huge applaud for the adaptation of James Dashner’s 2009 novel, immediately decided to make its second and third parts.
