Writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly took some time off to join Comic Book and talk about the “The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” graphic novel.
According to Comic Book’s post, the graphic novel will contain five different story angles about the characters that we met in the film namely.
Since the graphic novel is a tie-in to the film/book series, Comic Book asked if is there any specific reasons why they choose to explore the world of the theater screens instead?
The simplest answer that Lanzing gave was to be honest; they don’t really have a choice since the book was produced by Fox and BOOM! Studios which is a tie-in to the movie series. The only challenge that the team need to face is to present new elements that will be explored in the movie series.
In addition to this, Lanzing also said that the series itself let them have that kind of freedom that obviously provides superior stories that hopefully challenge the fans of the book.
Meanwhile, when asked about how they formed the format to prep-up the readers for whatever changes and differences that might happen between the onscreen story and book, Kelly says that their concern is to help the moviegoers adjust to the world of the book rather that help the readers adjust to the world of movie.
On the other hand, the brilliant team behind this project was put together by Editor Dafna Pleban. According to Lanzing himself, these particular artists who were selected are Andrea, Tom Derenick and Nick Robles.
And since not everybody have seen the first film, there’s nothing to worry… the writers made sure that they were able to give the new fans at least a look into the world of the first film in this graphic novel even though “The Scorch” is about as far from the Maze as you can get.
Lanzing and Kelly also revealed in the interview what the five story angle will be. These stories contains “Run Alone,” “My Friend George,” “The True Maze,” “Scorched,” and last but not the least “The World Gone Wicked.”
On the other hand, the “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” official graphic novel is now available on BOOM! Studios.
