Football player Tim Tebow was called “ugly” on Jimmy Kimmel’s mean tweets segment but channeled his energies hosting 50 proms for special needs people instead. Read on for further details.
Despite being subject to a demeaning tweet insulting his face, former Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow simply laughed it off and concentrated his efforts on pulling off his Valentine’s Day gift to fans: hosting nearly 50 prom nights for thousands of special needs individuals in February 2015.
Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” is one of the most watched segments on his show. This week, he got football players and personalities to participate by filming them as they read all the rude slurs football fans said about them on social media.
Among them, football coach for the Florida State University Jimbo Fisher, ESPN sports analyst Kirk Hersbestreit and People’s 2014 Sexiest Man Alive Tim Tebow read their own roasts on air.
“Tim Tebow is not cute, sexy, or hot. He ugly. Sorry about it,” the devout Evangelical Christian and ESPN sports analyst read a tweet about him on the show. After which, he promptly broke into laughter and shrugged the insult off.
The “he ugly” tweet immediately garnered defensive responses from Tebow fans, with some arguing the quarterback “is not ugly. He’s adorable.” Another tweeted about Tebow looking “mighty fly,” despite the slur, while another wondered aloud whether insulting the athlete would get his attention:

For the former NFL quarterback, his attractiveness being called to question isn’t a big deal. This year, all his attention is focused on hosting close to half a hundred “Night to Shine” proms for special needs patients on Feb. 13, 2015 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his Tim Tebow Foundation.
The nationwide event, which will include all the traditional prom accoutrements of hair and make-up, limousine rides, red carpet entrances, food, dance floors, photo booths, and more, will take place simultaneous across the country at participating churches. As much as 100 special needs individuals are expected to attend the synchronized event.
“We are so excited to be able to create this opportunity for thousands of people around the country with special needs…,” Tebow said, as published in the Inquisitr. “This event perfectly fits our mission to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
