If you are reading this article, we would like to remind you that this is no season finale of the beloved “How I Met Your Mother” HIMYM after nine “legen-wait for it-dary” years. It is, indeed, the finale. The “How I Met Your Mother” Season 9 Episode 22 “Last Forever” aired on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
In the one-hour special feature of “How I Met Your Mother,” Ted (Josh Radnor) ends his storytelling with his kids about how he met their mother. As always, the episode was filled with awesome twists. So did “The Mother” (Cristin Milioti) really die? Yes, she did. She was already gone when Ted was narrating his story with their kids. It was also revealed that “The Mother’s” name was Tracy McConnell.
Ted and Tracy met after Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney’s (Neil Patrick Harris) wedding, under the yellow umbrella. After nine long years, we finally hear Ted say, “And that, kids, is how I met your mother.”
But wait! As we have mentioned, there are twists in this episode—shocking revelations! You see, Tracy has been gone for six years and Ted has truly loved her. However, having truly loved someone is different from finding someone that you consider as your true love. This is where Robin—yes, Robin the reporter and the former pop singer—gets into the picture. Robin was and has always been Ted’s true love. Quit guessing because Ted and Robin ended up together. Part of the twists was Barney and Robin’s divorce after three years of marriage.
In the last scene, Ted went to Robin’s apartment with the blue French horn that he had stolen for her. And that is how “How I Met Your Mother” ended.
Meanwhile, fans have mixed reactions regarding the finale. Mostly, they were shocked to find out that Ted and Robin still ended up together in the last scene. Oh, well, the show had a good run, and it left fans with something nice to remember.
Farewell to the show’s main cast: Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel) and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).
To the HIMYM writers, Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, we had a good laugh!
