Michelle Obama took a quick break from her European tour to surprise the pregnant military spouses. She has pulled off an amazing baby shower with an objective to feature goodies for their expected newborns and offer a few treats to pamper them.
The party was held at a U.S. military base in Vicenza, Italy, which was attended by some 30 active-duty servicewomen and military spouses who thought that they were invited for a round-table discussion on “motherhood in military” with the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS).
“This is your surprise baby shower,” Obama said according to a White House transcript of the event published by The Weekly Standard. She also extolled their contributions in looking after the kids and families when their hubbies are out for protecting the nation.
The party was hosted in conjunction with two non-profit groups – Operational Shower and Glam4Good. Operational Shower is specialized in hosting amazing baby showers for militaries families across the nation and its purpose is to celebrate, honor and bring recognition to them.
Operational Shower was responsible for making the celebration successful for the expectant military moms, whereas, the latter looked into the empowerment through styles. Glam4Good founder, Mary Alice Stephenson and her team of experts in design, beauty and style were involved in managing the party.
“You guys are getting some special things because we want you to know that we have got your backs while you are going through this part of your lives. You are not alone. We love you guys,” Obama told the group of expectant mothers, as reported by Allure.
The liberal donations from the brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Dior, Alexis Bittar, Jenna Hipp, Liz Lang, Pangea Organics and H&M, just to name a few, helped the non-profit groups to offer the attendants some essentials – such as stroller and diaper bags – including a mini shopping spree. Merchandises like summer dresses, sunglasses, yoga gear, hair care products and make up were the parts of shopping spree that were styled by beauty expert Jessica Richards and handbag designer Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger.
