Miguel Cotto claims that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is no match for him. The highly anticipated boxing match will happen a few months from now, on Nov. 21, but it seems like the Puerto Rican fighter is not at all worried of the outcome.
In an interview with Opening Round, Cotto shared that he considered Alvarez just like any other opponent. The fighter is confident that he will win the fight and knock Alvarez to the ground. He further said that there is nothing special about Alvarez that he and his fans should feel concerned about.
“I had 44 fights in my career. Canelo is just going to be another one, a new chapter in my career,” he said.
Cotto also pointed out that since he was able to face several boxing legends including Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, this game with Alvarez is nothing to be excited about. The athlete said that he just sees Alvarez as “another name” in his book.
According to the publication, in the event that both fighters get a win, a third and deciding match will happen. Roc Nation Sports President and Chief of Branding Strategy Michael Yormark said that they are all very excited about the fight. The executive added that he considers the fight between the two as “the fight of the year.”
Yormark said that fans should not be worried as the fight will definitely happen this November. He said that they are just going through some standard process to ensure that both sides would benefit from the game.
