Mike & Molly Season 5 Recap: Support Your Local Samuel

“Mike & Molly” Season 5 Episode 7 “Support Your Local Samuel” aired last Jan. 19, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS. The episode kicks off with Mike and Carl eating at Abe’s Hot Beef. They are kind of surprised that a lady takes their order. They ask if where is Samuel. The waitress tells them that he is in the restroom for two hours already. Read on to know what happens next.

The two cops go to the restroom to check on Samuel. Their favorite waiter is inside a cubicle and does not want to go out. He says that he received a disturbing letter from home. The cops find out that the letter has nothing to do with death or sickness, so they decide to go out. Samuel finally goes out of the cubicle and reads the letter. He says there is an upcoming tribal warfare. His father apologizes that he can only send $164 this time. Mike is surprised to hear that Samuel’s family is in Africa, yet they send him money. Samuel defends himself that he cannot afford to live in United States, but he does not want to go home. He says he is a complete failure and hugs Mike, asking what he must do.

While Molly, Victoria and Joyce are drinking a strange kale smoothie with three different kinds of rum, Mike arrives. He tells them that Samuel might go home to Africa. However, he gets distracted with the smoothie and becomes excited to try it. The women are concerned.

Molly finds it strange that Mike does not have details about Samuel’s decision. Mike says that as a man, he does not want to talk about personal stuff. He says a guy never wants to feel vulnerable. Molly tells him that as a friend, he must do anything to get his friend out of trouble. She says that he does not want to get involved with emotional situations. Mike does not care and casually walks out of the kitchen.

Samuel is invited to have dinner in Mike and Molly’s house. He thanks the couple. Mike says that it was all Molly’s idea. Molly says that they must not talk about why he should get out of America; they must talk about why he should stay. Mike tells her that it is actually a nice idea. He admits that he just does not want to see Samuel cry in front of him. Samuel asks if what Molly plans to make him stay. Molly says they will have cake and goes to the kitchen.

Mike, Vince, Carl and Harry gather to have a poker party for Samuel. Samuel almost cries after saying that he would miss them. He says that the management does not want to give him a raise and a new nametag, which states his real African name. Vince wins the game after bluffing Samuel.

Mike and Carl wait for Samuel as they eat at Abe’s. Samuel is finished talking with his boss. He says that he cannot get a raise because business has not been great lately. His boss plans to sell the establishment with a big discount. Mike says good luck to the “idiot” that will buy the place. Samuel thanks him. Turns out, he bought Abe’s Hot Beef.

Mike tells Molly about Samuel’s huge next step. Molly rejects Mike cuddling her because she wants to help Samuel with the preparations.

Molly brings a lot of balloons to Samuel while he is busy wiping the counter. She finds a hard time getting all of the balloons inside the diner that she just leaves them hanging near the door. She makes it clear that she is willing to help him anytime. She puts on an apron and cleans the floors.

Molly brings Samuel to her house. She convinces Mike to sign the loan papers. Mike worries that if Samuel will fail, the financial burden will be on him and Molly. He tells her that she should have said no. The couple goes to the living room to listen to Samuel’s investment proposal. He promises to do anything to make the diner a success. While Samuel is happily waiting for the couple’s decision, they are arguing which one of them tells him no. Mike decides that both of them say no at the same time. However, Molly betrays Mike.

Mike has no choice but to tell Samuel that he cannot risk his money despite their friendship. Samuel accepts it wholeheartedly. However, Vince suddenly enters the room while munching a sandwich and tells him that he is in. He is willing to co-sign the loan. Samuel tells him maybe it will jeopardize their friendship.

“What friendship?” Vince asks Samuel innocently.

Vince announces that he likes to invest on failed businesses. Samuel gets excited. Molly says she is concerned for “him.”

“Which him?” Mike asks Molly.

It is finally the opening of Samuel’s business. All of his friends and acquaintances go to his diner. Victoria loves the layout and design of the place. Carl commends Samuel for his effort. Samuel reminds him that he did not co-sign the loan. Carl is speechless.

Joyce and Vince are busy tasting the menu. Joyce says all she tastes is salt. Vince reminds Mike that although they are family, Mike still needs to pay. Mike grumpily sits beside him on his favorite booth.

Will Samuel’s business become a success? Catch the next episode on Jan. 26, 2015.
