The Mindy Project Season 5 will return on Hulu to tickle everyone’s funny bones soon. As the goofy yet confident gynecologist Dr. Mindy Lahiri moves forward with her adventure, she will have some old friends and new faces on the show for company.
The Hollywood Reporter added that the upcoming Season 5 will be adding some new faces to the show and will also see some old friends returning. Mindy Kaling, who also happens to be the creator, executive producer and star of the show, shared a lot of details at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
According to details given by her and another EP of the show Matt Warburton, Nasim Pedrad is set to make her debut on the show where she will be playing a character that is more of a “pediatrician to the stars.” Going by a role like this, she might end up treating Leo or some other story arc must have been planned for her.
Mindy stated that she always wanted to write for Nasim because she fits so perfectly in their world. Apart from Nasim, older faces like Bill Hader and B.J. Novak will also be returning in the upcoming season.
Bill will be playing Mindy’s ex-boyfriend who broke her heart, while B.J. Novak will be reprising his role as Latin Professor Jaime. Other additions in the show include Bryan Greenberg and Rebecca Rittenhouse, who will be playing a nurse and a young doctor, respectively.
The previous season finale showed Mindy in a struggle between her ex Danny and colleague Jody. She was shown with an option to either rekindle her romance with Danny or to pursue a new romance with Jodi. Whatever choice she ends up making, it would be really interesting to see who she picks and how the story goes ahead.
The outlet also stated that an idea had been running around a lot in the writer’s room, and that was if Mindy was born as a white man on the show. The episode titled If I Were Born a White Man would see Mindy waking up as a white man one fine morning.
The Mindy Project Season 5 will premiere on Oct. 4 on Hulu.
