Miss Universe 2015 news: Steve Harvey personally apologises to Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach

Epic fail is epic but at least Steve Harvey was man enough to own up to his mistake and apologise not only via Twitter but also personally.

A few moments after crowning Miss Colombia as this year’s Miss Universe, Steve Harvey braved the camera once again and corrected his mistake. Miss Philippines, he says, is actually Miss Universe 2015. Everybody did not know what to do. But when the “Family Feud” host finally said, “Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines!,” the crowd went wild and the confusion (well, at least some of it) lifted.

But Harvey knew that it probably was not enough. Minutes after the live telecast, he went to Twitter and apologised. His apology read, “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.”

He did not stop there, though. He manned up and approached Miss Universe Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach to personally apologise to her. Filipino journalist MJ Felipe posted a photo on Instagram of the 58-year old host talking to the 26-year old beauty queen (see photo above).

In a video posted by GASP! HOLLYWOOD, the host was seen bowing to the Miss Universe 2015 winner and giving his apologies, saying, “I wanted it to be great. I wanted to fix that. I wanted to do the right thing.” Because Miss Universe Philippines Wurtzbach is the graceful winner that she is, she responded with, “No, it’s fine. It’s fine.” Harvey then tanks her for accepting his apology and added, “You look absolutely gorgeous.”

During his recant of Miss Universe Colombia’s win on camera, Harvey even took full responsibility for his mistake. He even clarified that his later announcement is clearly what is written on the card that he read. To erase any doubts, he even showed the card on screen and it did read, “MISS UNIVERSE Philippines.”

It was indeed an unfortunate event. But soon as the shock died down, Miss Universe Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was able to take the crown and celebrate her win. This is the Philippines’ third Miss Universe title and their first in 42 years.
