This year, the oldest surviving foremost international female beauty pageant will mark 64th year of ever-increasing success. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Megan Young of the Philippines will crown her successor at the finale of the event. Approximately 127 contestants from all over the world are expected to participate in the competition. Miss World is part of the Big Four international beauty pageants. Read on for Miss World 2014 timeline, Date and Venue details.

According to Philnews.ph, the Miss World 2014 has officially announced that the contest will take place on Dec. 14, 2014 at ExCel London in London, England, which is the pageant’s  hometown until 1988.

The event started to be held outside London in 1989 where it was hosted by Hongkong.  After that other countries started hosting the Miss World pageant outside its home city since its conception. The host city of London is the capital city of England and United Kingdom. The host City London is the most populous region. It is the urban zone and metropolitan area in the United Kingdom.

In 1990, 1999 and 2000 editions of Miss World were also held in the city. In 2002, London has to host the pageant due to the alarming riots that had happened in Nigeria at that time. It was in 2011 that London last hosted the pageant and it was Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela who took home the coveted crown.

The current Miss World is Megan Young of the Philippines. She was crowned on Sept. 28, 2013 in Bali, Indonesia. Traditionally, Miss World lives in London during her reign. The titleholder spends a year travelling to represent the Miss World Organisation and its various social causes. Customarily, during her reign Miss World lives in London.
