After carving a niche in the millions of hearts at the 2013 Miss World pageant, Megan Young now has left an impression with her charity work with Miss World Organization during her reign. Read on for more interesting details about Miss World Megan Young’s reign.
According to Inquirer.NET, the news was shared in a press conference held at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) pediatric ward in Manila last Nov. 4, 2014. It was announced by Julia Morley, president of Miss World Organization.
Morley is in the country to look over the new PGH section sponsored with a contribution from Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corp. Young is a Filipino American actress, a model, a VJ, a host and a beauty queen who got this unique opportunity. Exceptionally, her period with the organization was allegedly increased for two more years.
“Once a Miss World graduates, on her second year she continues to do work for the organization. By that time, she has fully understood ‘beauty with a purpose.” said Morley.
She said that she's "honored" that Young is part of their organization.
“Megan is doing a great job so far. I say ‘so far’ because her work does not end when she crowns her successor,” stated Morley.
“Beauty with a purpose” is the name of the charity run by Miss World organization and perspective of the international pageant. Young promised to be “the best Miss World ever,” after winning the title last year. It seems that she has fulfilled her promise and came off with flying colors. In a previous interview with Inquirer, event coordinator Steven Roddy said that Young has excelled in her work during her reign so her extension was expected.
While continuing her charity work with the Miss World organization, Young may possibly try her luck in acting and other interests.
“Megan will be a big star someday. She will be in Bollywood,” said Morley.
Valerie Weigmann will now represent Philippine beauties in the Miss World pageant in London on Dec. 14, 2014 at ExCel London. She will compete against more than 120 beauties from all over the world to take home the coveted crown.
