‘Moana’ Movie: Disney’s New Princess Moana Will Be Exploring Pasifikan Myths and Cultures!

Disney  is all set to launch its new adventurous princess whose name only mean ‘ocean’, Princess Moana. Movie is titled “Moana” which will hit theatres on November 23, 2016. Disney will be exploring a lesser known world of oceans and waves through “Moana”

“Moana” Movie Plot:

“Moana” movie is about Princess Moana who has exceptional navigational skills. The story is around 3,000 years old where Moana is born to a chief and when her family needs her. Moana gears up to serve her ancestors with her extraordinary skills of way and wavefinder. She is accompanied by demi-god and spirit who is legendary Maori figure of Pacific, Maui.

“The origin of this story lies in research on the great navigators of the South Pacific and how they ventured forth in wooden boats to navigate the world”, said Musker in an interview with NZHerald.

“Moana” movie is a very ambitious project of Disney. Moana is a fifth official non-European Disney princess. “Moana” movie will have princess Moana accompanied by demi-god Maui along the way she will also meet Pua the Pig and Hei Hei the Rooster.

“Moana” Cast and Production:

“Moana” movie will be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Ron Clements and John Musker will direct and write the film. Dwayne Johnson will voice for demi-god Maui.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson seemed extremely happy when offered to voice Maui. He said, “It’s incredibly humbling,” Johnson says of being chosen to lend his voice to the project. “And it also makes myself and my family and our heritage, our culture, our Polynesian culture, just extremely proud. I am just so deeply connected with this story. I am half-Samoan, half-black, so it is about my culture.”

Characters of  Pua the Pig and Hei Hei the Rooster are loosely based on the directors of “Moana”. This movie by Disney will also feature music of “Circle of Life” during Moana’s birth, which was in the opening of “The Lion King”, noted IMDb.
