Previously on “Modern Family” (Episode 6 “Won’t You Be Our Neighbor”), Cam (Eric Stonestreet) got home after accompanying Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) to a party. He had a good news for Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) — there was an opening in another class that could take Lily in. The two were worried that Mrs. Plank (Tyne Daly) was a bit too harsh. In fact, when Lily showed her work to them, she suddenly tore it into pieces when she realized that there was a misspelled word. So the next day, Cam and Mitch talked to Mrs. Plank about transferring Lily to another classroom. They think Lily would do better in a more supportive environment. Mrs. Plank, although unwilling, had no choice but to let Lily transfer, only after she corrected Cam’s grammatical error.

While Lily was playing with another kid, Cam and Mitch showed up and informed Lily that they transferred her to another class. Surprisingly, Lily was not happy about it. She said she wanted to learn. She then asked her friend what is the product of mixing blue and yellow. The girl answered “blellow.”

Cam and Mitch showed up again at Mrs. Plank’s room and asked if she could take Lily back. She agreed, but she embarrassed them by having them identify the object in the sentence she gave.

Phil (Ty Burrell) was the realtor for their neighbor’s house. Claire (Julie Bowen) wanted to have a great neighbor. She planned a fake gardening activity with the kids to impress Phil’s clients, while Phil ushered the prospective buyers. Upon meeting them, Claire was ecstatic. She wanted them to be their neighbors as they were a nice couple. Then a family showed up wanting to take a look at the house. They were the opposite of the first one, and Claire does not like them. In an attempt to stop them from getting interested with the house, she mentioned about a loud freeway noise.

Phil went out of the house and saw Refer (Steve Zahn) standing underneath the tree. He told Phil that he would add 50 grand just to get the house. In an attempt to make the nice couple to make a higher offer, Phil and Claire invited them for dinner. However, it was a disaster as they were misinterpreted as swingers for unintentionally saying something in a sexual context.

Claire told Phil that he can just tell Jerry (Matt Besser) that he misplaced the offer, but Phil refused. He then visited Jerry and, upon realizing how terrible his living condition was, told him about the offer. Then Refer, Amber (Andrea Anders) and their kids moved in.

Jay (Ed O’Neill) made a sock dispenser so he would not have to use the same pair of socks all over again. Manny (Rico Rodriguez) appeared with his new girlfriend Sophie (Cheryn Cole), who liked Jay’s new invention. She later revealed to him about her grandfather who owns Closets, Closets, Closets, Closets — Jay’s rival. Jay then told Manny to stop seeing Sophie. Gloria (Sofia Vergara) set a dinner for Jay and Earl Chambers (Jon Polito). It all started when Earl abandoned Jay when they were still young business partners. Instead of talking things through, the two ended up fighting, with Earl telling Jay that he slept with his ex-wife.

Earl showed up at Jay’s place to finally apologize. But when he saw Manny in costume, he changed his mind and left.
