The Oscar-winning actor, director, and narrator, Morgan Freeman has shared his views, in a recent interview with The Daily Beast, on marijuana and that it should be legalized. Morgan Freeman is a long time user of marijuana. When asked about it, he recalled about a past accident and how marijuana has helped. Read on.
The 77-year-old actor had an accident seven years ago when he was driving across Mississippi in his 1997 Nissan Maxima skidded from the highway. Freeman was saved by using Jaws of Life and was admitted in a nearby hospital in Memphis. He got out of the accident with a left arm injury. Doctors have tried to wake nerves in Morgan’s left arm, but he still can’t use it properly. His left arm suffers from fibromyalgia pain. It keeps coming from time to time and has to wear a yellow compression glove to avoid blood pooling.
In the interview, when he was asked about his views on legalization of marijuana, Freeman jokingly said, “They used to say, ‘You smoke that stuff, boy, you get hooked!’”
Freeman described his left arm pain and said that marijuana is the only thing which offers relief from the pain. He then added that marijuana has scientifically proven results, studies have even shown that marijuana helps kids suffering from grand mal seizures to have a life.
Freeman sure did not forget to add, “That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!’”
Freeman said that he can understand that alcohol has no such scientifically proven results. He also said that one peg may ease the suffering, but two or more can cause trouble. But he with the full confidence expressed his views on the legalization of marijuana.
Freeman also told that his first wife had got him into it and he consumes it in any form in which he gets.
