The “7 Deadly Sins” docu-series will premiere on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11 p.m. on Showtime. It is created and directed by “Super Size Me” director Morgan Spurlock. Read on to find more about Showtime’s “7 Deadly Sins.”
According to Variety, the new documentary from Showtime will take on a new schedule. It was originally scheduled to air on June 19, but it was set to air its first episode on August 7, 2014.
Deadline previously reported that the network had ordered Spurlock’s concept into series. The Showtime documentary will give the viewers an in-depth look into the world of sins. The seven deadly sins are lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.
Spurlock shared that he had wanted to do a show similar to “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.” He also shared that his partnership with Showtime will make it “as depraved as any scripted program.”
“A series just as dark and twisted as anything fiction could imagine, and now I’m thrilled to have that dream come true with Seven Deadly Sins.” Spurloch said in a statement posted in the Deadline article.
“You won’t believe it until you see it … and even then, you may not believe it,” he added.
On the other hand, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) posted that Morgan Spurlock will serve as the show’s primary host, highlighting one sin for each episode. Spurlock is joined by his partner Jeremy Chilnick with Spurlock’s own production company “Warrior Poets.”
Surely, there’s still a comic side to the upcoming docu-series which Spurlock has been known for. His first ever documentary film, “Supersize Me” is about his experiment on eating only foods from McDonald’s for 30 days.
His Supersized-journey has been critically acclaimed. The film premiered in the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury award for Spurlock’s direction. It was also nominated for several awards including the Academy Awards for “Best Documentary.”
Spurlock’s other works are “Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?” and “POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. He had worked with comic book big shot with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator Joss Whedon, Stan Lee and Harry Knowles for “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope.”
His most recent work is for directing the 3-D concert film of the phenomenal boy band, “One Direction.” “One Direction: This Is Us was released in August 2013.
