Mr. Freeze Might Appear on Gotham

FOX might add Mr. Freeze in “Gotham.”  It is possibly the latest addition to the growing roster of DC heroes and villains on the show. Read on to learn more about the details on the possible new character in FOX’s “Gotham.”

The upcoming FOX series will not revolve around Batman but on Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie). The other DC Comics characters joining the cast are Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Catwoman (Camren Bicondiva) and the new cast member Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith).

The addition of “Mr. Freeze” in the “Gotham” cast is still in the works. It will depend on whether the series can last and withhold steady ratings during its run. It was also reported that the show’s pilot is crucial as it needs to get positive feedback in order to add this new villain in the show.

“Gotham” director Danny Cannon told Hitflix that introducing Mr. Freeze in the show would be such a good idea together. If the idea will push through, the series will also showcase Mr. Freeze’s origin story as well as the other heroes and villains who are already in the series.

“I have a big pitch with Bruno about the Mr. Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain. If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realized,” said Cannon in the Hitflix article.

However, there is still no news if series creator Bruno Heller and DC Chief Creative Office head Geoff Johns will agree to his idea. As of the moment, the show has enough heroes and villains with origin stories to explore, which is why they cannot add Mr. Freeze into the mix right away.

“Mr. Freeze” or Dr. Victor Fries is one of the prominent archenemies of the Batman in the comic book series. His character was also introduced in several TV and film adaptations.

Hollywood legend Eli Wallach was one of the early actors including George Sanders and Otto Preminger, who portrayed the character in the original Batman series. It is considered as one of Wallach’s well-known roles in his entire acting career. Former Governor of California and “Terminator” star Arnold Schwarzenegger played the same character in 1997 film “Batman & Robin.”

“Gotham” premieres September 22, 2014 on FOX.
