It seems like magic is truly in the air, and that book adaptations are as well, as MTV is currently going on full steam in the development and casting of their newest fantasy television series based on “The Shannara Chronicles” books of fantasy author Terry Brooks. According to  the official website of Terry Brooks, the MTV epic fantasy has just added two new actors to its roster. Read on to learn more about the added cast members and to learn more about their roles.

It seems as if MTV is jumping on the bandwagon, and is currently going on full steam forward with their latest fantasy venture. According to an article on The Hollywood Reporter last year, will be based, for the first season on the book “The Elfstones of Shannara.” It is part of the series of “The Chronicles of Shannara” books written by fantasy author Terry Brooks.

This is the second fantasy venture for MTV, and is the latest in the trend of fantasy and magical based book adaptations which include BBC’s and BBC America’s “Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell”, based on the book of the same name by Susanna Clarke  which is currently airing, and is three episodes in, and SyFy’s “The Magicians,” which is based on “The Magicians” trilogy written by Lev Grossman.

According to the official website of Terry Brooks, actress Emilia Burns will be portraying Commander Tilton. The character is the captain of the “legendary protectors of the Ellcrys and the Gardens of Life” called “the Black Watch.” However, it was also clarified on Brooks’ website that this character doesn’t appear in the book itself.

Aside from Burns, actor James Trevena-Brown will be portraying Crispin Edensong, the captain of “the Home Guard.” He is sworn to safeguard Amberle (Poppy Drayton), an elven princess, and Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler), a half human and half elf, on their journey together.

These two will be joining a cast which includes Manu Bennet, Ivana Baquero, John Rhys-Davies, Brooke Williams,  Marcus Vanco, Aaron Jakubenko, Daniel MacPherson  and James Remar.
