“The mysteries of Laura” Season 1 Episode 2  “The Mysteries of the Dead Date” aired on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on NBC. We were taken in a different take on the whole dating scene as Laura unravelled a murder mystery by using herself as bait. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode kicked off with Laura and Sands in a crime scene where a woman’s body was found dead, Samantha Jones. It was a pretty horrifying and brutal scene because the victim was dangling from a red scarf in a yoga studio, and the medical examiner revealed to them that Samantha was strangled with the use of that scarf.

Naturally, Laura was quick to act, and she was onto the next step right away to solve the case. She started gathering information to know more about the victim, and she did this through the victim’s clothing receipts.

Meanwhile, Jake was treating everyone in the station pretty good. While his ex-wife was solving a murder case, he was busy giving treats to his employees by ordering in pizza, Cronuts and he also installed a coffee machine.

Laura and Billy went to see Samantha’s ex-husband with his new wife. They asked them questions, and soon enough, they were clear. They went to the victim’s apartment next and found out that Samantha has recently joined an online dating service. This means another lead for the two, so they headed to the yoga studio once again to interrogate the victim’s yoga classmate, Mrs. Pulaski, whom Samatha pressed assault charges against just a few weeks ago. By interrogating Mrs. Pulaski, they were onto their next lead, a used-car salesman, Charlie Carazzo. When they got to him, Carazzo tried to escape, but Laura, always alert and quick to act, was able to take him down.

Laura did what she thought was her best chance to catch the suspect. She set up her own profile online that was very much the same as the victim’s profile. She has a plan — she will catch the suspect by offering herself as bait. Jake allowed her but offered that he will come along with her.

During the date, Laura has finally tracked down the killer, Kevin, and she was able to catch his attention. With the help of Sammi, Laura was able to set up a meeting with Kevin again that night, and he spilled the beans by telling her that Samantha did not show up, and the guy who spilled a drink on Laura was Michael Devlin, a wingman who seduces divorced women.

With another lead on her table, she went back to work and used Devlin’s website to set up a meeting with another woman whom Devlin raped. Laura hit it with Devlin at the bar, and they even got to his house when things started to get really bad. The good thing was Laura had backup, and before things could get worse, her backup came to take Devlin down.
