Episode 1: The Seven Deadly Sins

In the kingdom of Liones, in the outskirts of the Imperial City, a young squire, Alioni, stumbles upon a pile of dead holy knights — all slaughtered in an instant by seven people, the Seven Deadly Sins or Nanatsu no Taizai.

Ten years after, in a pub named Boar Hat, a young boy has been serving up drinks and awful food to his patrons. At the busy pub, there were rumors that the Seven Deadly Sins might still be alive despite their supposed defeat at the hands of the Holy Knights spread. Then a person suddenly burst in at the doors of the bar exclaiming that he has seen the rumored wandering rusty knight. In the middle of their talks, a figure clad in a rusty suit of armor emerges from the pub’s door, causing the panicked customers to flee. The armored figure suddenly collapses revealing a silver-haired girl inside.

The girl woke up in a bed, confused as to where she is or why she isn’t wearing her armor. The young boy explained that she is in his pub, the Boar Hat, and introduced his companion, Hawk, a talking pig who serves as the cleaner of the Boar Hat bar.  She began to reveal that she is searching for the Seven Deadly Sins.

Upon getting a notice from the villagers about the Rust Knight being in Boar Hat and possibly being a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, Alioni, together with his fellow knights, demanded that the owner of the establishment come out while bringing the Rust Knight, intending to arrest the latter. Alioni demanded that the Rust Knight come out as well, only for Hawk to pretend as him. Insulted and angry for being mocked, the knight lifted Meliodas by his collar. Just then, he was notified by one of his subordinates that a woman had escaped from the back door.

Assuming her to be the infamous Rust Knight, Alioni and the other knights went in pursuit. Hawk started to defeat them one by one by charging from behind and then quickly pushed Alioni from the cliff. The boy asked the girl what was her reason for looking for the Seven Deadly Sins. She told them to stop the holy knights, revealing them that the Holy Knights staged a coup d’état and captured the king, becoming the new, tyrannical rulers of the kingdom.

Just then, Twigo a Holy Knight, quickly cut a part of the cliff they were standing on. Bragging that he has killed three persons, Twigo was surprised when Meliodas jumped back from the cliff carrying everyone, including Alioni. Twigo, who was angered since his confirmed death toll was changed, recognized the earring the girl was wearing, revealing that she is Princess Elizabeth, the Third Princess of the Kingdom of Liones.

Elizabeth, Hawk and the boy began running away into the thicket of trees, to which Twigo plowed down in a single swing of his sword, but the trio survived the attack. Elizabeth decided to surrender herself in order to save the boy. Twigo then attacks\ed the princess, which was again saved by the boy. Elizabeth begged the boy to leave her, telling him she does not want to involve him in her problems as she has worn the armor to hide her identity, not relying on anyone, until him, a total stranger, treated her with kindness; him whose name she does not know.

“Meliodas. That’s my name,” said the boy while smiling.

Alioni, who has regained his consciousness, revealed to his comrades that he knew who the boy was, when he saved him he saw it. If they enraged him, the country will be destroyed.

Elizabeth saw the symbol tattooed on Meliodas’ arm, the symbol of the beast, the dragon. Twigo then again unleashed a powerful attack to which was countered by Meliodas using his sword with a broken blade. Things began to get more interesting.

Baffled, Twigo realized who his opponent was but did not wanted to believe and swinged his sword again towards him, only for his attack to be repelled back, which defeated Twigo and sent him flying in the sky.

“The Seven Deadly Sins, Wrath of the Dragon. Dragon’s Wrath, Meliodas!”

And with that, Elizabeth has found her first Deadly Sin. Six more to go. But as for the remaining six, Meliodas has also been trying to figure out where they are as he has business to deal with them. That’s why he has been running a bar to gather information. He then offered Elizabeth to become the bar’s waitress, to which she agreed with much gusto.

Twigo, who has regained consciousness, ordered his men to request for reinforcements, but as he does so, Hawk’s mother, a giant green pig with the Boar Hat on her head, fell from the sky, blasting Twigo and his men away and transported the establishment.

Meliodas, Elizabeth and Hawk, aboard Hawk’s mother begin to embark their journey to the next city in hopes of finding another deadly sin.
