Natalie Dormer plays Margaery Tyrell, the graceful and politically savvy beauty on the “Game of Thrones” (GOT). In real life, however, the English actress admits to struggling with clumsiness, causing some embarrassing “wardrobe malfunctions” on the “GOT” set.
Margaery Tyrell of the “Game of Thrones” would never be caught dead stumbling over her voluminous skirts on the grounds of Highgarden or the cavernous halls of the Red Keep, but 32-year-old “The Tudors” star Natalie Dormer reveals she can be clumsy, and she does have accidents with the long, cumbersome “GOT” costumes.
“Oh, my God, I’m so clumsy. I’ve tripped down and up stairs. There’s a scene where Sansa and I, two seasons ago, are walking down cliffs. I fell down those cliffs,” said Dormer, as published on the Inquisitr.
“And when I was walking up to Joffrey’s bedroom for the crossbow scene, I definitely fell up those stairs nearly into camera. Long skirts are annoying; they get in the way,” added the “GOT” star.
And to think she had several seasons of “The Tudors” to get used to all those unwieldy medieval dresses too. Still, Dormer has some good things to say about her perpetual trophy-wife “GOT” character.
“Margaery represents a very modern sort of PR, winning the hearts and minds. I’ve called her Kate Middleton crossed with your First Lady, Michelle Obama. She is a politically savvy woman who is harnessing romantic notions of royals in the populous’ mind,” explained Dormer.
The good news is, Dormer, who had a brief role in “Captain America: The First Avenger” is getting her action game on soon, leaving behind her trip-worthy “GOT” wardrobe to become a physically strong female character who doesn’t need to rely on her looks and feminine wiles to get ahead.
The actress will be reprising her role as Cressida, a guerilla fighter all dressed up in combat gear, complete with a half-shaved head in the second installment of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”
Cressida is a tough character is used to danger and violence, but then, so is Margaery Tyrell, who Dormer hopes will go out in style.
